Physical therapy is not just for sports injuries. Although Excel Physical Therapy has many skilled therapists who could help you return to playing baseball in the fall or adjust your golf game, Excel also has trained specialists in Vestibular Therapy and Pelvic Health. The Vestibular System is the part of the inner ear that regulates your sense of balance and spatial awareness for coordination. Vestibular trained therapists can treat many conditions such as concussion or vertigo. Pelvic health specialists can treat bowel and bladder dysfunction, peri- or post-partum muscle dysfunction, or pelvic pain, as well as a range of other pelvic girdle problems, in a private and individualized manner. Additionally, Excel Physical Therapy offers the LSVT BIG program for persons with Parkinson’s Disease to help improve your ability to walk, stand, or dress in a safe manner. Physical therapy can help you achieve YOUR personal goals! Whether you want to learn to play tennis, hike the Appalachian Trail, or stand from a chair without using your hands, Excel is the place for you! At Excel Physical Therapy, your therapist takes an individualized approach to your plan of care to allow you to participate in your recovery and meet your personal goals. At each visit, you will be seen by the same Doctor of Physical Therapy who will utilize a combination of hands on treatments, strengthening exercises, and flexibility techniques while developing a home exercise program to give you the tools you need to achieve your goals.

Here are some things you should know!
Physical therapy can help reduce your risk of falls and injuries. Falls are the leading cause of emergency room visits for older adults because, as
By Casey Sullivan, PT, DPT, OCS
we age, our balance and strength naturally decrease. Studies show (Shubert 2010, Karinkanta 2011) the best way to decrease risk of falls and resultant fractures is through a combination of strength training and balance exercises, which can be learned in physical therapy. Physical therapy may help you avoid surgery or prescription drug use. In some cases, PT has been found to be as effective as surgery, preventing more invasive and expensive procedures, as well as decreasing recovery times. Some of these conditions which may improve with PT alone include meniscus tears, knee arthritis, rotator cuff tears, and lumbar degenerative disc disease. Additionally, the reduction of pain and improved range of motion which physical therapy can provide, may limit your need for prescription pain relievers, saving costs and avoiding unwanted side effects.

Latest Update On COVID-19 Safety & Precautions From Excel CEO Kristin Mullen
Message from the CEO:
Since we reopened our clinics on March 30th, very early on in this pandemic, we have successfully and safely performed 35,000 in-clinic visits and 2,700 Telehealth visits. Now, as we move into the green zone of the pandemic, and more people venture out to seek the care they need, we realize that patients may have additional questions about how we are maintaining our safety precautions.
Below we have outlined information from our website to address this subject:
• Information regarding our screening procedures www.excelphysicaltherapy.com/why-excel/covid-19- questions-and-answers • What if I can’t get a prescription for Physical Therapy from my doctor? www.excelphysicaltherapy.com/direct-access
When physician offices were closed, and now as they open up to in- clinic visits and surgical procedures, the Excel team has established consistent communication with our referral sources to ensure therapy prescriptions and patient plans of care are promptly established.
• Additional questions regarding our safety protocols www.excelphysicaltherapy.com/contact-us
All 33 Excel locations are fully open and stand ready to provide our exceptional care.
We welcome your requests, and are happy to further discuss any specific questions you may have, to provide assurance of our commitment to your health and safety. Please feel free to contact us at 866-883- 9235 or call any of our clinics. We look forward to speaking with you soon and assisting in your care. Lastly, as a service to you, through the month of July, we are offering FREE SCREENINGS for all previous patients, friends, and family and hope you continue to remain healthy and safe!
While the pandemic has certainly presented many challenges from a business and health perspective, it has also prompted many silver linings that will ultimately continue to improve patient care. • Within a two week turnaround, the Excel team was able to leverage telehealth technology to reach all patients who needed therapy, but were unable to be seen in the clinic.
• Therapists were able to reach out to past patients on a regular basis for well checks and therapy needs assessments.
In Good Health,
• Schedules and clinic layouts were developed to maintain social distancing and provide individualized, safe, high-quality care.
Kristin Mullen, CEO Excel Physical Therapy
• Vir tual technology was leveraged to ensure robust communication within the team for clinical education and new procedure implementation.

“After having physical therapy at a few other locations (not Excel) with no success, my doctor referred me to Excel Physical Therapy. I was not sure how this would go, yet again, at a new location. I was very fortunate to have Zachary Roy, PT, DPT as my Physical Therapist. He was so compassionate and very caring about my needs. He listened to me attentively every visit. He focused on what I needed to get me out of pain, and yet feel an accomplishment of his own. He also engages with his team, and the time goes so fast as you pursue your goals. This is the best therapy I had gotten in over 10 years. Finally, I am able to drive my car, go to the grocery store, and plant my flowers again. And, yes, I will do the exercises that I was given after six weeks of therapy. Zachary has led me in the right direction. If need be, I will not hesitate one moment to return If I had to again, but only at this location. Thank you, Zachary Roy; you are amazing! Keep doing what you’re doing; don’t change a thing. You’re the best!!” - D.C. (Royersford Clinic Patient) Don’t delay we can help you!
