More Than A Winner Magazine: Resilience

FINISHING

After going through a tough divorce and taking a lower paying job to stay close to my dad, who was very sick, life became really hard. Even with everything going on, I still wanted to keep learning, and I was excited when I got the chance to study for free. I saw it as a way to stay strong, build new skills, and help more people. But things didn’t go smoothly. A professor didn’t think my experience in business was good enough for his doctoral program in Higher Education Administration. That was tough to hear. During my interview for the program, I said, “Business and education both deal with people and how things are run. I still have a lot to learn, but I do have useful skills.” Even though I was told “no” at first, I didn’t give up. I believed that my different background could actually be helpful, not something that held me back. I knew that working hard and being open to learning would help me catch up. Four years later, I graduated. On top of that, the same professor who first doubted me ended up becoming my advisor. That experience taught me how important it is to never give up and to use all the different skills and knowledge I had. Finishing the program, especially after someone questioned if I belonged there, became one of my proudest moments. It wasn’t easy. I had to work hard to build a good relationship with the professor and adjust to a tough academic program. But I made it by staying focused, asking for help when I needed it, and always trying to learn more. After a family relocation and the elimination of my corporate leadership role, I founded Planning Management Consulting LLC. My next target is to expand our reach, helping more individuals and organizations navigate change with confidence and integrity. To achieve this, I am focusing on enhancing our service offerings, building a robust online presence, and fostering partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations. You can find me at Planning Management Consulting LLC, where we help people navigate change with confidence and integrity. Let’s embark on this journey together.
