Holidays are always special for my family and guests when including a visit to Callanwolde!!!” At Winter House’s culmination, the Callanwolde School of Dance presented two dance holiday spectaculars. The youngest dancers partnered with the Atlanta Youth Singers to perform “Wintertide,” much to the delight of the sold-out crowd. The older dancers performed four separate shows of “All Aboard,” a charming original production inspired by “Polar Express” featuring sets, costumes, and high-quality dance. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our Winter House sponsors whose generous contributions made this event possible: Audi Atlanta, Personal Care, Inc., Tradition Trees, Siegel Insurance, Auto-Owners Insurance, The Coca-Cola Foundation, Dekalb Library Foundation, Faith Flowers, Stems Atlanta, Rhapsody in Bloom, LLL Rentals, DeKalb County Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Affairs, Dekalb Federation of Garden Clubs, and Trellis Horticulture Therapy Alliance. Guests sampled Callanwolde’s educational offerings in mini workshops featuring popular year-round classes such as Pottery Wheel Throwing, Raku Firing, Jewelry Making, Glass Etching, and Blacksmithing. Santa himself made delightful appearances, creating holiday memories with both human and furry companions. Live performances further elevated the festive ambiance, showcasing talents like Joe Gransden and his band, professional pianist Mischa Stefanuk, and the Atlanta Youth Symphony. New community partnerships brought an opportunity to provide more services for underserved communities, including a mini library staffed by the Dekalb Library Association, Sensory Santa appointments for children with special needs, and a memorable holiday experience for families previously unhoused. In its third year, Winter House has become Callanwolde’s largest community engagement event. A vibrant celebration of Callanwolde’s mission infused with art, live performances, warm hospitality, and interactive workshops, Winter House allows visitors a stress-free experience as they sit beside crackling fireplaces in our cozy Wine Bar and Winter Living Room while enjoying classic board games and art projects. Outside, families gathered around fire pits to enjoy s'mores and the beautiful Callanwolde grounds. Throughout the festivities, the Callanwolde atmosphere resonated with lively holiday customs as guests explored our festive artist market, participated in family games, and admired the ambiance of Callanwolde as a family home.
