Memory Verse: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God” (Isa. 41:10). God had given some severe messages to His chosen people through Isaiah, the prophet. At last, God allowed Isaiah to tell the Jews about the great blessings that He had in store for them following their captivities. He told them of the coming of John the Baptist who would prepare them for the arrival of their Messiah, the Son of God. Isaiah, through the wisdom given to him by the Holy Spirit, told many details concerning the Saviour’s life and death hundreds of years before His coming. What comfort and joy these prophecies brought to God’s children who had suffered for many years because of their sin and dis obedience ! Some of the things Isaiah said that the Saviour would do when He came to earth are told in Isaiah 61:1. Jesus was sent to “preach good tidings unto the meek; to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord . . . to comfort all that mourn.” Many, years later, when God’s Son had taken a human form and had come to the earth to live, He went to the syna gogue one day to worship His Father. The synagogue helper brought the Saviour a scroll containing the book of Isaiah. The Saviour opened the scroll to the verse which we have just read from Isaiah 61. After the reading, God’s Son sat down and said, “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” How surprised the people were to know that the Lord Jesus was the One of whom Isaiah had written so long ago. Isaiah reminds the people of God’s power and of the fact that His Word shall never change nor pass away. God allowed Isaiah to give to the Jews some of the most precious promises that we find in His Word. One of these is our memory verse for today: “ Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dis mayed; for I am thy God.” Scripture Racket A RECENT news release from Dr. Eric M. North,, General Secretary of the American Bible Society, points out that it is unwise to answer the ap peals of Nigerian natives who request Bibles from individual Christians in this land. The letter may sound very appeal ing but the Bibles are asked for appar ently only in order to get something to sell by which to make money. Frequently the letters are copied by one person after another from models that have been found successful in touching soft Amer ican hearts. Dr. North points out that in no case would a genuine appeal for a free Bible be ignored although the general policy is to sell Bibles at a price which the buyer can afford.

My Little Ones “ I appeal therefore to you for immediate help—food, clothing, and above all, money. “ Our group of Jewish believers is getting bigger as the new comers somehow find out about us and join our ranks. We meet each week for worship and fellowship. “Please send immediate help! Urgent!" Can we remain unmoved by the suffering of our brethren in the land of our Saviour? Will you help us in His stead to show forth His love and to proclaim His Gospel of salvation in the very land of our Redeemer at this ominous and prophetic time?

They have had no proper nourishment for about a year and a half, and this has resulted in the ruination of their health. “ She is only 18 and suffers a weak heart. He is about 28 and has a painful malady resulting from starvation and medical neglect. He is not in a position to work. The child is 8 months old. They live in half a room, divided by a wooden partition. When I called, I found them subsisting on a diet of bread and water. My heart was torn within me when I saw their sad plight be cause of my inability to help them per sonally.
