6. Operate and manage the TREND building energy management control system to ensure optimum control of building services with regards to energy efficiency. 7. Implement the delivery of the University Carbon Reduction Plan through optimisation of the BMS system, establish management review systems to ensure accurate data capture and effectively utilised to pro-actively drive down energy use. 8. Supervise and manage BMS projects on site and provide expert technical supervision, ensuring effective and compliant systems upgrades. 9. Research and analyse new innovations in BMS development. 10. Keep up to date with relevant legislation and establish best practice sector principles, embedding these across the University. 11. Produce proposals for inclusion of energy/ carbon savings in a rolling programme of Estate refurbishment and new build projects as appropriate. 12. Co-ordinate activity with other University staff developing sustainable projects and initiatives, specifically the Head of Sustainability and promote sustainability in all aspects of the Estates Services and Capital Development. 13. Establish effective working relationships with building users; provide technical and practical advice and training on energy efficiency and minimising waste. 14. Carry out site inspections and energy surveys. 15. Establish robust audit and management procedures for gathering data, produce Performance Indicators on energy use, energy/ carbon savings and cost information and prepare reports and graphical dashboards maintaining accurate records. 16. Prepare tender documentation in connection with utility saving projects. 17. To ensure compliance with the University’s procurement and financial regulations in all aspects of service delivery. 18. Job Purpose:

To develop and deliver energy and carbon reductions across the University’s Estate. Deliver the output of the Carbon Management Plan and Decarbonisation strategy with the aim of achieving Energy Accreditation. To regulate and monitor the energy use across the University and improve efficiency by evaluating energy consumption and putting in place new policies, procedures and changes to the University’s Building Management Systems (BMS). To provide a targeted approach to energy reduction for the University’s estate by focusing on the effective control of building services and controlling the BMS.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide expert advice in relation to effective utility use across the University in line with industry best practice. 2. Develop, coordinate and implement strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption and decarbonisation in support of the achievement of Energy Accreditation. 3. Develop and deliver energy and carbon reduction projects. 4. Proactively engage with the delivery of mechanical, electrical and construction projects within the Estates team to ensure that opportunities to improve energy performance and adopt new technologies are maximised. 5. Work with finance and procurement to provide professional advice and support on the timing of energy purchase agreements together with the duration to ensure that the University obtains optimum value for money across utilities and energy services.
