In the month of May, we have two very important days to remember — Memorial Day and Mother’s Day. For Memorial Day, we remember those who lost their lives serving our country to ensure that we can have a free country. For many, it’s easy to take this for granted because it’s so difficult to imagine being involved in a war fighting for your country, knowing that you could lose your life at any moment. But for the month of May, try to put yourself in their shoes. It’s hard to imagine myself at 20-something, with very little experience, shipping out overseas. Try to think what was going through their heads. I can only imagine how scary it was for them and I am thankful for their sacrifice and their service. In talking about sacrifice, I always cherish Mother’s Day. I know that without my mother, I wouldn’t be here today … literally. But I also know that my mother instilled the basic qualities of love, empathy, hard work, and caring within me. As many of you know, because I’ve said it multiple times in the past, my mother is also responsible for much of my success. Throughout my childhood, I remember my mother saying, “Kelly, you can do anything you put your mind to,” and I really think that gave me this limitless-possibility mindset I have. She is absolutely one of the major reasons for my success. So, let’s all thank our mothers for all their sacrifices throughout our lives and also thank the mothers of our children for their sacrifices. Thank you, Mom, and thank you, Kim! A MONTH OF GRATITUDE Honoring Those Who Shape Our Lives and Safeguard Our Freedoms

From our family at Campbell Wealth Management to you and yours, Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Secure Your Future Strategies for Maximizing Retirement Savings

Planning for retirement involves more than just dreaming about leisurely days spent traveling or pursuing hobbies — it requires strategic financial planning to ensure you have enough savings to support your desired lifestyle. Maximizing your retirement savings is essential for achieving financial security and peace of mind in your golden years. Here are some key strategies to help you make the most of your retirement savings. Start early. The earlier you begin saving for retirement, the better. Compound interest works in your favor, allowing your investments to grow exponentially over time. Even small contributions made consistently over several decades can significantly boost your retirement nest egg. Contribute to retirement accounts. Take advantage of employer-sponsored retirement plans like 401(k)s or 403(b)s, especially if your employer offers matching contributions. Contribute as much as you can, aiming to maximize employer matches to maximize your savings potential. Utilize individual retirement accounts (IRAs). In addition to employer-sponsored plans, consider opening an IRA, such as a traditional IRA or Roth IRA, to supplement your retirement savings. These accounts offer tax advantages and flexibility in investment choices. Take advantage of catch-up contributions. If you’re age 50 or older, you’re eligible to make catch-up contributions to your retirement accounts, allowing you to

contribute additional funds beyond the regular contribution limits. Maximize these catch-up opportunities to turbocharge your savings as you approach retirement age. Diversify your investments. Spread your retirement savings across a diverse mix of assets, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate, to minimize risk and maximize potential returns. Regularly review and rebalance your investment portfolio to ensure it aligns with your risk tolerance and retirement goals. Minimize fees and expenses. Pay attention to the fees and expenses associated with your retirement accounts and investments. High fees can eat into your returns over time, so opt for low-cost investment options whenever possible to maximize your savings. Delay Social Security benefits. Consider delaying your Social Security benefits beyond your full retirement age, if possible. By delaying benefits, you can increase your monthly payments, providing you with a higher income stream during retirement. By implementing these strategies and staying disciplined in your approach to retirement savings, you can maximize your savings potential and build a secure financial foundation for your retirement years. Start planning and saving today to enjoy a comfortable and fulfilling retirement tomorrow!

That Saved a Man’s Life

Sharks are powerful, violent creatures. They can have thousands of razor-sharp teeth. They swim about 12 mph when attacking — twice the speed of a (very fast) human swimmer. The mere presence of a shark is enough to close down a beach and frighten movie audiences.

After a difficult and painful swim, he reached the shore. Eugene’s daughter asked why his back was so bloody. He was shocked to find a giant gash across the center of his back, as well as several teeth marks on one side. The family headed home as lifeguards closed the beach, fearing more attacks. That evening, Eugene was in severe pain from the injury and was rushed to the hospital. Not surprisingly, blunt force trauma was causing his pain, befitting a large shark ramming him in the back. However, this wasn’t the only diagnosis he received that day, nor was it the most severe. While examining Eugene, doctors discovered a walnut-sized tumor on his right kidney.

They quickly rolled him into the operating room and removed the cancerous tumor before it could progress. Whether the shark intended it or not, it may have saved Eugene’s life. Undetected, the tumor might have metastasized and spread to the rest of his body. Without that attack, he may not have known about the cancer before it was too late. Because of that fact, we are confident the shark is a hero, whether it knows it or not.

Apparently, some sharks are different. One shark even saved a man’s life.

Eugene and his family were enjoying a warm summer day in Huntington Beach, California. As he swam in the ocean, enjoying the cool waters of the Pacific, he was struck by a sudden tremendous force, pushing his neck backward. He later described the sensation as “instant whiplash.”
