E-mail: info@geomartin.com. GF PUHL Gallatin, Tennessee: Greg Puhl reports, “At GF Puhl, 2021 was one of our busiest years in company history and we

are very grateful for the opportuni- ties to serve all our customers. 2022 is shaping up to further expand our business and customer base. “Highlights of 2021 include utiliz- ing very large screen separators to replace existing cyclone systems. The lower profile elevation for above

roof systems along with improved up time has been a fo- cus of several of our sheet plant and corrugator plant cus- tomers. “In 2021 we expanded the use of the new nanofiber technology cartridge filters which have successfully re- placed the previous version of material with higher per- formance and filter life while maintaining near same cost of upfront investment. The savings in the long term is achieved by having fewer filter change outs, less filter change out downtime and labor. “Our electrical panel shop is a “UL” shop which means we can produce UL listed panels. The process is a great way to ensure our electrical panels are checked by UL a nationally recognized testing laboratory. We are also now offering field listings of entire systems. This year we listed two indoor/outdoor systems. According to UL, these are the first trim and dust (combined) systems that have been NRTL field-listed in the U.S. “You may be asking yourself why you would want a system UL listed. When our systems are installed, in our industry, the electrical installation is a combination of the OEM’s (in this case Puhl’s) controls and motor starter pan- els and installation of the electrical conduits and hardware by the customer’s local electrical contractor. The local con- tractor’s crew skill levels and experience can vary. Having a system UL or NRTL listed is a great way to check the final installation to the electrical codes and NRTL ratings. “For example, when you list an outdoor system, did you know that all of the long vertical conduits must have drains for condensation and any intrinsically safe circuits (explo- sion isolation equipment) must have a 2-inch gap between the conduits of the intrinsically safe circuit and any other circuit? “Having the NRTL listing, in this case a UL inspector check the system in the field for certification is a good way to ensure that the installation was done correctly, and the components used were tested for the application they are being used for.
