NI Concrete Society Awards: celebrating excellence T he gathering of the Northern Irish division of the Concrete Society took centre stage AWARD WINNERS & HIGHLY COMMENDED

such as the Concrete Society NI Region Award, Students’ category and the much-anticipated annual Lifetime Achievement presentation. The Judging Panel consisted of three Past Chairmen of The Concrete Society NI Region and assessed the entry submissions under the following criteria: Presentation, Innovation, Design Complexity, Concrete Practice, Safety Elements, Sustainability/Society Impact and Demonstratable Benefits. Host for the evening was Paul Clark, MBE, of UTV Live and the charity partner was Tiny Life, Northern Ireland’s premature and vulnerable baby charity. The charity received a fantastic £3,460 from donations made on the evening. The awards ceremony served as a showcase of the immense talent and unwavering passion present within Northern Ireland’s concrete industry. at the Europa Hotel on November 9, for the Concrete Society’s NI Regions Annual Awards Dinner 2023. The event aimed to honour the remarkable contributions made by both companies and individuals to the concrete industry. Neil Cooke, the NI Region Chair, expressed immense satisfaction with the turnout, stating, “The 2023 Awards received an outstanding response from the local construction industry. All applicants should be commended for the exceptional quality of their submissions.” He also highlighted the substantial involvement of numerous Northern Ireland-based companies in a diverse array of high-profile projects across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. Neil praised their role in advancing processes that enhance the quality and efficiency of construction projects. The awards comprised categories
