IN A CHALLENGING AND REWARDING PROJECT, JAK CONTRACTS PAINTING ACHIEVED A UNIQUE FINISH USING DULUX PAINTS AND VESCOM WALLCOVERINGS THROUGHOUT ROOM2 BELFAST… PAINTING AND DECORATING CONTRACTOR
J AK Contracts Painting Ltd was appointed by the main contractor to deliver the full painting and wallpaper coverings package for room2 Belfast. The project was not the first time the Strabane-based business has worked with Ganson. However, with its scale - encompassing 175 rooms and a café, tearoom, restaurant, lounge, bar, meeting and event spaces and gym over nine floors - it was a standout project for JAK. James Kelly, co-owner of JAK Contracts Painting, said, “room2 is a one-of-its-kind building in Belfast that will be a talking point in the construction industry. “The style and design of the building has a unique finish, and the finish in room2 has a never-been-seen style, with painting
standards of the highest quality. “Our management and staff on the ground worked tirelessly to create this finish and they are a credit to the company. Hard work and experience got the project over the line. “The challenge we face more often than other trades is that we are one of the final trades on a project, and often have to accelerate the programme under tight deadlines.” The hometel represented a challenging 10-month project for JAK, including evening and weekend work as deadlines loomed. Dulux paints and Vescom wallcoverings were installed throughout the nine floors. JAK was established in 2015 by James and his brother Aiden Kelly, who had
taken over the business of their father John Aiden Kelly dating back to 1980. Over the years, it has steadily built a reputation for delivering high quality painting and wallcovering contracts across sectors, both in partnership with Tier 1 builders and as a principal contractor on painting schemes. While the Strabane-based business has a family feel, its impressive portfolio is attracting high-end clients in Belfast, Dublin and London. Aiden said, “We are committed to our clients’ needs, and the successful handover of projects, and have a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude to doing so. “We are experienced in handling any type of commercial project.
