DallasHR 2020 Community Report

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

WHEREWERE YOUWHEN THE PANDEMIC HIT? We all remember where we were the moment something significant happened in our lives. And we will never forget the day the pandemic changed our lives forever. So many of us had great plans for the new decade of 2020! We had new visions for our company’s future and were ready to take on 2020 with gusto! And we did…for about 47 days! Then COVID-19 changed many of our plans and be- came a household word. But…the HR Community rose to the occa- large face to face meetings. Ultimately, we made the decision to move to a virtual HRSouthwest Conference. With the help of dozens of volun- teers, The HRSouthwest Conference was able to select a new virtual platform and deliver 31 hours of high-quality education over three vir- tual days. Although this virtual conference did not deliver the same in person networking and connection building opportunities, we expect at the in person event, we did meet the needs of the HR community through education. Virtual

sion. To achieve our mission, DallasHR depends on providing the HR industry in-person educa- tion, from experts in the industry. Not having access to in-person education was our major challenge. We immediately hit the ground running to address the pandemic challenges of working from home, mental health, and the new family first laws addressing the “new” workplace. Our talented volunteers and leadership assisted with nine complimentary pandemic support webi- nars in April pulling in local governmental lead- ers and employment lawyers to help address these topics and many more. And we joined the 1000s of associations across the country to identify the best procedures and platforms to deliver high quality education virtually to a HR Community trying to juggle an unprecedented working environment. The HRSouthwest Conference was on our immediate radar as we had no idea when the pandemic would end, and we could return to

HRSouthwest Conference participants gave the event a 95% net promoter score meaning attendees would recommend this evet to their colleagues and friends. By year ’s end, between DallasHR Education Events and The HRSouthwest Conference, we were able to virtually deliver more than 125 educational sessions with 125 HRCI and SHRM recertification credits to our members! Thank you to all our dedicated volunteers who helped make 2020 a success despite the COVID challenges. We could not have done it without you, and we look forward to some return to normalcy!
