law firms have a training structure which is parallel to apprenticeships, so through that system we take on about 20 trainees each year who train over a two-year period, so we will have about 40 trainees at any one time.
Specifically on apprentices; we currently have two apprentices in our Cheltenham office, and seven across the Three Counties, doing either Business Administration or Legal Apprenticeships. We expect to take on five apprentices next year because we are extending our CILEx apprenticeship scheme (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives). “We see the recruitment of apprentices into the business as a key way of investing in our future talent and also maintaining our ability to have a highly skilled workforce who could be the partners of the future.” Claire Davies, HCR’s HR manager l

A member of the fast-growing sector of our economy now badged ‘cyber’, and the Gloucestershire group called CyNam.“Currently we have one apprentice called Jay, we are really pleased with the amazing contribution Jay has made to Infrastar in the short time he has been with us. If things go well and we are in a position to do so, I would like to consider taking one or two more apprentices in the next year. I have seen the amazing benefits apprentices bring into other organisations and want to see what we can achieve with them in Infrastar. “New ideas, talent and most importantly more people are desperately required by the IT industry, having the right aptitude and mind set is important, along with a willingness to learn. Having the apprenticeship population come in and work with people who are more established in the business is exciting. “Apprentices in my opinion are essential as part of any business, new or old, a new era for many of them that needs to experience the benefits apprentices can bring. Times are changing and everyone at any point of their life can learn new things. Having an apprentice in conjunction with more experienced people allows existing skills, knowledge and experience to blend into the new skills and knowledge the apprentices bring, all part of the new working world of today and tomorrow” l
