The Apprenticeship Guide and The Future of the High Street

Find your place at St. James’s Place

Apprentices play a crucial role at St James’s Place, with more than 100 members of staff benefiting from the wealth management firm’s apprenticeship programme. The Cirencester-based company knows that university may not be the desired route for many young people, but that it shouldn’t be a barrier to a career in the finance sector. So since 2012, 122 young people have gone through the programme, with a further 18 still learning on the job today. Experience over a number of years has taught St James’s Place to craft their apprenticeships to be about developing each individual. Nicki Williams, head of employee recruitment and early careers, said: “Our apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity to complete a funded and supported qualification while you earn. “They are permanent contracts where each member of staff has support from the programme manager and the wider business. “They are open to those leaving school or colleges after their A-Levels or equivalent, and can be based at either our Cirencester or London offices. “Alongside their work, all our apprentices study for a qualification relevant to their role, through self-study and online classes.

“We also assist in the completion of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, to give each and every person outstanding skills to set them up for the future. “All we ask is that anyone considering taking on an apprenticeship with us to be hard-working, self- motivated and with a proactive approach to work and their studies.” Candidates will have a minimum of GCSE grade C (level 4) or above in English and Maths and be on their way to completing A-Level, BTEC triple award or equivalent studies. All St James’s Place apprentices receive full employee benefits, pension, saving schemes and bonus as well as a competitive apprentice salary. Recent apprentice, Charlotte, said “I couldn’t be happier with the progress I have made so far in my career with St. James’s Place. “The most valuable aspect for me is the amount of support and respect I receive for being an employee and for the work I do. “I cannot emphasise enough how much I value and appreciate all the time that the Early Careers Team have dedicated to me and my development over the past year” l For more information, visit www.sjp.co.uk/careers or email early.careers@sjp.co.uk
