WHAT IS THE DETERMINING FACTOR OF A QUALITY REFLECTIVE TAPE?
Microscopic glass beads cover the surface of the tape. When light enters the bead, it reflects off the back surface, increasing visibility. During the daytime, this an be challenging to see but at night, it becomes very apparent. The challenge for most reflective trims is they lose reflectivity due to the loss of glass beads during the industrial wash process. This is known as glass bead shearing. The idea behind 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material is the same science used in a cat's eye: Our RT80® reflective trims are manufactured to last for more industrial wash cycles and are more resilient to glass bead shearing than other brands.
