TFH Sensory Room Development Guide

SENSORY ROOM Development Guide

WHAT IS A MULTI SENSORY ENVIRONMENT? Multi Sensory Environments (MSE) or Sensory Rooms are dedicated, flexible spaces where individuals can experience a wide-range of non-patterned sensory stimuli for relaxation, therapy and/or learning.

There are several key elements a MSE/Sensory Room should have to be successful:

Be Comfortable and Welcoming - A safe place for learning and relaxation.

Be Empowering - An environment that allows the individual to take the lead to explore and experience at his or her own pace .

Have Variety - Provide a wide range of opportunities for all abilities and ages.
