This section provided promising results. As stated in the introduction to this section, a large majority of people would prefer to age at home and within their communities. Taken together with the results of the number of people who spend time in their neighborhood, and adding on the information from Community Listening Sessions, this points to a well- defined need to take services to people in their own neighborhoods/communities versus pulling people away from those neighborhoods toward few centers of service. Additionally, respondents in the younger cohorts overwhelmingly showed interest in physically and mentally focused activities. PCOA, partner agencies, and local governments need to address the needs of the current older populations while creating or improving opportunities for those in the younger cohorts to become involved and stay involved long-term. In either case, the future of aging and adult services appears to point toward taking services to the people, rather than taking the people to the services.
