Tennis: Little Aces Red Ball • AGES 4-7 Introduce your kids to a lifetime of tennis fun. We focus on the ABCs - agility, balance and coordination - using a variety of games, contests and other fun activities. Children learn basic tennis skills utilizing the USTA’s 10-and-under tennis pathway on smaller courts using special racquets and red tennis balls. Children must wear tennis shoes; racquets are provided. In case of rain, up to two makeups will be held after the end of the session. Tennis: Junior Team Match Prep Green/Yellow Ball • AGES 8-14
The Park District is excited to launch Intra-District Team Tennis! This is for Green Ball level through Yellow Ball 14u players who can serve, rally, keep score, and have developed some of the mental toughness necessary for healthy competition. Players must be in a minimum of 2 classes per week, preferably the 85-minute match prep class. For weekday programs please register for the tennis site closest to your current school. Teams will be based in such a way as to have young players meeting and training with potential future high school teammates. Additionally, coaches will be assigned by the same area so that, for example, a future NNHS Husky will be coached by a current NNHS tennis team player. Part of each Match Prep class will include supervised match play with real-time tactical coaching and player self-reflection. Players will also be expected to participate in conditioning along with skill building drills and specific situation point play games. Players should come prepared for a challenging class and have gear to anticipate what they may need: large jug of ice water, towels for sweat, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. (ba) CODE DATE DAY TIME R/N Knoch Park Tennis Courts 1-6 (North Side) • 812 S. This program transitions kids who have completed at least one Red Ball program to the next level and a larger court. Beginning with red tennis balls on the 36’ court , the play will transition to the orange ball and the 60’ court during the latter part of the session. We focus on the ABCs - agility, balance and coordination - using a variety of games, contests and other fun activities. Children learn basic tennis skills utilizing the USTA’s 10-and-under tennis pathway on smaller courts using special racquets and tennis balls. Children must wear tennis shoes; racquets are provided.
