CENTENNIAL BEACH

Swim Lessons: Beach • AGES 6-14 This program is designed to improve each child’s swimming skills at his or her own pace. Swimmers are placed by skill level and each participant learns water safety skills appropriate to their level. (bs) LEVEL 1 provides beginning swimmers with a basic familiarity with the water. Among other skills, students learn to put their faces in the water, float and flutter kick. More importantly, they learn to trust their instructors and realize that swimming is fun! Class size is generally a maximum of 4 students per instructor. Make up classes, only due to facility closures, will be conducted on the Thursday and Friday of the 2nd week of the session. No lessons will be held on 7/4. LEVEL 2 builds upon the skills learned in Level 1. Students learn to add arms to their flutter kick to create a solid foundation in freestyle and backstroke. Class size is generally a maximum of 4 students per instructor. Make up classes, only due to facility closures, will be conducted on the Thursday and Friday of the 2nd week of the session. There will be no lessons held on 7/4. LEVEL 3 is taught in the deeper water. This level aims to equip students with water safety and survival skills. Students learn backstroke, jump in and recover to the surface, and explore swimming in deeper water guided by the instructor. Class size is generally a maximum of 4 students per instructor. Make up classes, only due to facility closures, will be conducted on the Thursday and Friday of the 2nd week of the session. No lessons will be held on 7/4. LEVEL 4 students work to refine their freestyle and backstroke, are introduced to treading water, work on shoulder rotation, and add an eight beat kick, and bilateral breathing. Class size is generally a maximum 5 students per instructor. Make up classes, only due to facility closures, will be conducted on the Thursday and Friday of the 2nd week of the session. No lessons will be held on 7/4. LEVEL 5 students learn sidestroke and elementary backstroke as a building block to learning butterfly and breaststroke. In addition to their application in future levels, these strokes are integral to water safety/ survival skills. Students learn to refine water treading techniques Class size is generally a maximum of 5 students per instructor. Make up classes, only due to facility closures, will be conducted on the Thursday and Friday of the 2nd week of the session. No lessons will be held on 7/4. LEVEL 6 students work to refine butterfly and breaststroke techniques. Class size is generally a maximum 5 students per instructor. Make up classes, only due to facility closures, will be conducted on the Thursday and Friday of the 2nd week of the session. No lessons will be held on 7/4. LEVEL 7 prepares students for the world of competitive swimming by teaching them racing starts and turns. Class size is generally a maximum of 5 students per instructor.
