Modern/Lyrical: Level 1 & 2 • AGES 7-11 Our Lyrical classes offer a first step towards our Modern/Contemporary classes while still working to build dancers’ ballet technique. Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet and jazz to create a soft style that emphasizes the storytelling quality of music. An emphasis is placed on grace and fluidity, musicality, and expressiveness to capture emotion through movement. **Prerequisite of at least one year of ballet, equivalent experience, or instructor recommendation is required. Storybook Dance • AGES 3-5 Perfect for young princes and princesses who love to dance and act, this stimulating program opens up the imagination of new dancers with stories, nursery rhymes, music and exciting props. It teaches dance in a creative atmosphere while strengthening basic motor and social skills. Stretch and Strengthen • AGES 11-18 The purpose of this class is for dancers to learn specific skills and techniques to stretch and strengthen their bodies as well as to increase flexibility. Benefits of this class includes increased range of motion, greater flexibility, decreased risk of injury and reduced muscle soreness. Psychological benefits include an increased sense of well-being, confidence, greater body awareness and improved concentration.
