As with equipment investments, any adoption will be measured. “We’ve always taken a gradual approach,” Centenari says. “We’ll look at it carefully, use what makes sense, and Atlas Container today looks very different from the company Paul and Peter Centenari acquired in 1988. The facility is larger, the equipment is more automated, the customer base is broader and yet the strategy upon which the business was founded remains remarkably intact. Centenari remains actively involved in day-to-day op- erations, a choice he says is personal as much as profes- sional. “I want to keep working,” he says. “You’ve got to stay passionate and hungry about it.” move on when it proves itself.” Forty Years Of Independence Upon reflection of the future of the Atlas Container, Centenari acknowledges that he and his brother may have different views, and that family considerations matter in any long-term plan. Centenari’s interest in improvement extends beyond the plant floor. He is watching how emerging administra- tive technologies, including artificial intelligence, may help streamline repetitive office functions and improve accura- cy without disrupting the way the business operates.
