walk and experience. This deals with rewards when we get to glory. Q. Tucson, Ariz. — “/ don’t under stand why people think that Christ died of a broken heart. Didn’t He die because of the lack of life in His body? I f He didn’t die of shedding His blood, we would have no remis sion of sin. I asked our doctor about it and he said that it is not neces sarily true that water comes forth when a person has a broken heart.” A. The reason people say Christ died of a broken heart is because the Scripture states that when His side was pierced blood and water came forth. The Saviour died because He shed His precious blood. The life of the flesh is in the blood (Lev. 17:11). Christ did not swoon; He actually died. His blood was shed that we might have remission of sins. We can assure you that there is medical testimony from many sources telling us that water does issue forth when one dies of a broken heart. Keep this in mind, however, that our Lord did not die because He was heart-broken or experienced some type of a coronary reaction. He shed His blood for our redemption. Q, Denver, Colo. — “Exodus 12:87 tells us that when the children of Israel left Egypt there were 600,000 on foot who were men, in addition to children. How could one altar ac commodate so many people, especial ly if they made individual sin offer ings? I f the priests were numerous and they worked even day and night, it doesn’t seem that they could take care of so many. Were there other altars distributed about the camp?” A. Notice that when the word believe is used, referring to salva tion, it is followed by the preposi tion in or on. This is quite an in teresting study. “I recently read an article which aroused my curiosity. A minister had written about a man who lived in a palace in the Syrian desert. His name is Addis Ababa Baha and it is thought that he will bear the number 666. Have you heard of this?” A. Yes, we have, for it has been reported in some newspapers. Some have reported that this individual’s personality was so impressive that they had almost been compelled to fall down and worship him. Some have even felt he might be an emis sary of Satan. Be sure to mark the fact our Lord told us that in the end of the age many would arise who would claim to be Christ; their cre dentials are false. The only antidote and safe ground in these difficult days is to remain steadfast, firmly anchored to this blessed Book. Q. Boise, Ida. — "Could you please explain I Corinthians 8:15, 'If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.’ ” A. Always consider the context of any verse. In this case, begin at least with verse 11. We are saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. After this initial step, however, Scripture in dicates that we build upon our Chris tian life that which will endure or that which has not any real per manence.
