altar. Before the Lord established the altar and sanctuary at Jerusalem during the time of Solomon, there were numerous places for altars on which the Levites ministered. These were descendants of the house of Aaron. There were different work shifts named after individual impor tant priests. Yes, there were many altars attended by authorized per sonnel. Because through the years the people perverted their privileges God required that all sacrifice be offered at Jerusalem. Please keep in mind this fact, too, that not every body who was supposed to bring an offering actually did so. This is why on the day of atonement the high priest alone offered an all-absolving, all-comprehending sacrifice for all of the times of omission by anyone in Israel. Q. A. Of course, we don’t know all of the circumstances; however, your statements would indicate, at least on the surface, that you have been far too indulgent. It is tragic today to see children so disobedient to par ents. The Bible says this is the way it will be in the end times. It is al most too late if one waits until a person is a teenager. His life pat terns are set. Some child psycholo gists believe that the first six years of life are the most important. Youngsters need proper discipline coupled with true love. Q. Portland, Ore. — ‘‘Frankly, I ’m one of those who resent the word salva tion. I always think of tent meetings and off-heat people trying to get everyone saved. Is it wrong to feel this way? I believe in God but I do feel resentful toward some people’s concept of Him.” A. There is certainly no reason to resent the excellent scriptural term salvation. See such verses as Acts 4:12.
