Occupational Awareness Month began in 1980 to help spread the importance of this additional therapeutic option, in which helps pain sufferers return to a completely independent lifestyle. Occupational therapy allows people who have suffered from a physical or cognitive injury to return to the highest level of activity possible. This form of therapy helps people of all ages re-learn how to complete tasks of daily living and make the proper adaptations to live healthier, fuller lives. Occupational therapy also assists people in learning to do the things they want and need to do during their daily lives. In many of our patients, occupational therapy is required after injury or illness to help them get back to their old selves. In seniors specifically, it has been proven to improve health and slow aging-related declines better than basic social activities. Teton Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation offers occupational therapy as part of our services, along with physical therapy and speech therapy.
