Record-high markets over the past year have brought renewed optimism across the industry and tight supplies give us hope that this trend is long-term. SALE INFORMATION VOLUME DISCOUNTS 5% on purchases of 5-9 head 10% on purchases of 10 or more head RETAINED INTEREST Bartels Angus is selling 100% possession and semen interest in all bulls unless noted or announced on sale day.
GUARANTEE All bulls are guaranteed against breeding injury for the first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90 day period following the first turnout of the bulls. Credit for the purchase amount less $3500 (buyer keeps salvage value) will be applied toward a replacement of an injured bull. Credit is for a replacement bull or credit in the 2026 sale. PERFORMANCE INFORMATION EPDs are from February 13. Up-to-date bull yearling weights, scrotal measurements, and ultrasound information will be available online in early March and on sale day as a supplement sheet. Updated EPDs can be viewed on www.angus.org by entering the bull’s registration number. All announcements on sale day take precedence over what is printed in this book. LIABILITY All persons attending this sale do so at their own risk. Bartels Angus and the Bartels family assume no liability for accidents or injuries that occur on the sale premises.
DELIVERY We provide free delivery on all lots within a 300-mile radius and on all purchases totaling over $10,000. For lots going beyond 300 miles, we will help coordinate delivery to get the cattle to you as economically as possible. If the buyer is under an extreme time constraint, the buyer is responsible for timely shipping. A $100 discount per bull is given if bull is taken home by April 1. Buyer must have them removed by April 1. SIGHT UNSEEN PURCHASES If you are unable to attend the sale but wish to place a bid, call Mike Bartels 402-746-4858, Craig Bartels 402-746-4856, the auctioneer or any of the sale- day representatives. We will handle your bid like you would if you were sitting in the stands yourself. Your complete satisfaction is guaranteed. Our sale will also be broadcasted live on Live Ag and DV Auction which offers real-time and proxy bidding options. GENETIC TESTING Most of the bulls have been tested with the Angus GS DNA test. All cattle that are suspect by pedigree for any known genetic defects have been tested. There were a few bulls where genetic testing had not been completed as of sale book print. Those results will be available sale day if not before. TERMS OF SALE Settlement is to be made on sale day. Cattle will not be released until payment is received. All registered animals will be transferred if requested.

Thoughts on Birthweight Long ago in a classroom in Lincoln at the University of Nebraska, they told us that every pound of birthweight transmits to seven pounds of weaning weight. In today’s market, that’s a lot of money. If that math holds true, an 80 pound calf will generally wean 70 pounds heavier than a 70 pound calf. Five weight steers are currently bringing over $3/pound. That extra birthweight can be worth over $200/ head. Remember that a 6 BW EPD in Angus is equivalent to a Simmental 4.1 and a Charolais -0.4 according to across breed EPDs from USMARC in Clay Center, NE.

We purchased Connealy Eclipse in the spring of 2024. After sorting through almost 600 bulls, we identified Eclipse as the bull to move our program forward. His outstanding phenotype and data made him a great addition to the program and he has greatly surpassed our expectations. Eclipse progeny are long bodied with excellent depth of rib. They possess great feet, a quiet disposition, and plenty of pounds in an average sized package. Eclipse progeny are below average for birth weight, and above average for weaning weight, yearling weight, marbling, and rib eye area in our herd against stiff competition. He bred a large group of heifers here last year and will again this summer.
LOT 18 We believe Bartels Eclipse 5205 is one of the elite calving ease bulls to sell this spring season. Take the time to really comb through the data on this bull. His elite level EPDS and $ indexes make him an easy choice on paper. Add in outstanding real-world data, and diversity of pedigree and it is easy to see this bull fills a lot of holes. As you walk 5205 around the pen he is admired for his fluidity of movement, robust middle and raw power, and clean lines. Actual IMF% of 8.07 to ratio 227 and actual rib eye area of 18.2 to ratio 127 on a scan weight of 1315. His dam is an elite female. We added her to the donor program last year and have calves on the ground now. She also has flush brothers scattered around the country working at numerous seedstock operations. The Elmay cow family is one of the premier cow families on the ranch. The $78,000 Bartels Bonanza and the $80,000 Bartels Columbus 310 both descend from this cow family. We will be using this bull back in our registered program as well as in commercial heifers we will sell this fall.
