cannot mean every Jew, dead or alive, but the Hebrews as existing at the time of the Second Coming. When will this occur? ‘ ‘When the fulness o f the Gentiles be come in.” Let one- of our modern prophets tell us the full-destined number in the Body o f Christ, and perhaps he may be able to tell us approximately the date of the Second Coming. Since no man has this information, date 7 setting is ridicu­ lous. Would to God that some who read these lines might have the privilege of bringing in the last soul. w •. Numerics of Rom. 6 :23 F rom A . R. W . The words of Rom. 6:23-24 must have been dictated by God. No human being could have written them. “ For all have sinned and come short o f the glory o f God.” Some two years or so ago I decided to test it by num­ ber and I found this.:; V . 23, numerical value of the let­ ters adds up 4628. That is 356 x 13. Thirteen is always the number of disobedience and rebellion in Scripture. (Note Gen. 14:4.) V . 24, letters; total up 9688. That is 1211 x 8. Eight is the Lord’s number—the resurrection number Jesus in Greek— 888. Cm. Antichrist 666 (6 is man’s number). Christ, Lord, Our Lord, Saviour, Mes­ siah, Son, all in Greek make a number divisible by 8. I had occasion to refer to numbers in Scripture a year ago to a mathematician, and he immediately characterized it as “ superstition.” I saw him ten days ago, and he launched out into higher mathematics, the Einstein theory, the division of atoms by electricity, etc., etc., and said be believed in the next world we would have a whole lot about God’s mathematics which would make our knowl­ edge look like gross ignorance. Now, I have got him, I am going to use his own arguments which prove God in crea­ tion and nature, to prove God in His Word. The very let­ ters are numbered. In verse 2 3 ,1 expected 13 but it would not come out. All at once I noticed a mistake. The Greek has a middle and a final form o f S, same as German and Old English. For instance glafs, refpects— glass, respects, etc. You see it in all 17th-century books. The Greek mid­ dle S stands for 200; the final S stands for 5. When I corrected my s’s the number came out exact, a multiple of 13. His Word is perfect, to the very letter. The wonders of creation in astronomy, in light, in physics, in atoms and molecules, in minutes and seconds, at last will be over­ shadowed by one thing: “ Thou hast magnified thy Word above all thy name” (Psa. 138:2). I am giving that to the mathematician to think over and realize what a fool he was when he blurted out “ superstition.”

It Is Well With My Soul T HE author o f the words o f this stirring Gospel hymn (music by P. P. Bliss) was H. G. Spafford, originally a lawyer of New York State. Later he became a teacher o f medical jurisprudence in Chicago, where, in the great fire, he lost nearly everything he possessed. This was blow enough to stagger almost any man, but not long after, his children were drowned when a steamer went down in one o f the Great Lakes. Mr. Spafford was a devout Christian. Pressed down by his terrific sorrow and the memory of his losses by fire, a message of peace came to his heart as he committed it all into the hands of his Heavenly Father. He wrote: “ When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea-billows roll, Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say: It is well: It is well with my soul.” A friend, who was in the midst o f almost overwhelm­ ing trials, heard the words read and said, “ If Spafford can feel that way after all he has suffered, I will cease my com­ plaints.” “ Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul.” Strange to record, Mr. Spafford, under a mental aber­ ration that he was a secopd Messiah, went to Palestine to present himself, and there passed away. But when reason wanders, does not God still take care o f the soul o f His helpless child? What estate is more helpless than that of insanity? We believe he will be in that company with the Lord when “ The clouds are rolled back as a scroll, The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend— Even so—it is well with his soul.”
