A special leaflet shows him up in his true colors. Members should notify us in advance when he is booked in their community, and if not in a large city, send copy o f the telephone directory.” W ant B ranches E verywhere Under “ Proposals and Plans” we read on page 19: “ The 4A seeks to establish branches in every population center and to maintain a representative in every community. All this, o f course, will take years. The holding of large meet ings is not necessary. The silent, individual propaganda, with the use o f 4A literature, is the hardest to counteract. But wherever possible, open, regular meetings' should be held.” W orld U nion of A theists The announcement on page 20 of the organizing of a

How Long Will Christians Sleep? The 1927 report of the American Association for the Advancement of Atheism, a 24-page booklet the size of T he K ing ’ s B usiness pages, gives accounts of their activities for the year. W e wish we could place a copy in the hands o f every one of our readers. Very few people seem to have awakened as yet to the fact 'that this organ ization is backed by huge sums o f money and carrying on

a country-wide propaganda while Christians sleep at their posts. We have done our best to arouse the churches to what is going on. W e published 20,000 tracts replying to 4-A literature, offering them free to our readers, hoping that some would be led to enable us to continue their publication and add others that are much needed. Apparently few have seen the need o f doing any thing to offset the millions of tracts and letters sent out to our high-school and college students by these Atheists. W e al ready have representatives in the principal nations o f the world. W e appeal to all per sons in a foreign country, es pecially anti-clerical leaders and editors who read these lines and who desire to help rid the world o f religion, to communicate with us here in New York, U. A world conference will be called as soon as sufficient members and groups are united to make it a success.” I ntolerable I ntolerance The New York Herald- Tribune says o f the threat of the American Anti-Bible So ciety to. remove Gideon Bibles

Onward, Sleepy Soldiers! George W . Hall, a 1922 graduate of the Bible Institute, is the author of a new ver sion o f “ Onward, Christian Soldiers.” Here are two verses—

Sleep o n ! O Christian A rm y; ■ Sleep on in this dark night; The Devil sure has guaranteed To keep your armor bright. There is no need for conquest, The future is quite bright : In sweet repose; your eyelids close, And whisper soft Good-night. If sleep can win the conflict, The battle sure is won. If compromise make “ Ironsides,” The enemy must run. I f cheap side-shows, whist-drives ' and thrills, ‘ With sweet pink teas galore, Can nerve us on to win the fight, W e’re bound to win the war. ’

Young men and women and boys and girls are given practice in public speaking. The beginning is admittedly modest, but it is hoped that the s.chool will grow into what the opposition would call a seminary. The movement needs large numbers o f trained debaters and lecturers, well-grounded in the principles o f Atheism. There should be a training school in every large city.”

It is cheer ing to know that this intolerable intolerance is extremely limited, and that its astonishing campaign appears to have little chance of making any headway.” W hat H as A theism G iven U s ? A prominent minister says of the A .A .A .A . propa ganda: “ Atheism must be viewed in the light o f its prac tical effect upon society at large. What lives has it illum inated with hope ? What vicious conduct has it restrained ? What philanthropies and reforms has it inaugurated? What peoples has it emancipated from the tyranny of iniquity? What exemplary characters has it produced as compared with those o f the saints of Judaism or Chris tianity?” T he G odless G irl We have heretofore referred to the protest o f the 4A ’s against some o f Cecil DeMille’s cinema produc-
