Fold the blanket in half, and mark the middle of the top fold. Grab a plate and lay it in the middle at the top, so that it is half on, half off the fabric. Cut the top folded over piece up the line you have marked until you reach the plate. Cut around the plate, forming a half circle at the top. Change your machine settings to a zig zag stitch, and sew that along all of the newly cut raw edges. Fold over the edge ΒΌ of an inch, and press the edge, making a crease. Switch the machine back to a normal stitch and sew all the way around the creased fold, to finish the edges. Put the blanket on to measure where you would like to place the holes for your belt. Measure and mark the belt hole placement with chalk in the front of the poncho (the piece that is cut). Use your buttonhole option and sewing attachment to make large buttonholes, use sharp scissors to cut the slits in the center of the button/belt holes. style.
