This month Natalie Webb is showing us how to make a castle desk tidy. “Are you pencils and crayons always messy and you can’t find what you want? Here’s a fun way to keep them organised!” Materials: • Toiletpaper and kitchenpaper rolls – I have used 5 toilet rolls and 2 kitchen rolls. • Scissors • Paints (your choice of colours, I use acrylics) • Paint brushes (plus an old
one for glue )
• Cardboard • Pencil Method:
Arrange your rolls standing up and touching each other on top of the cardboard base to make your castle shape. Put tall ones at the back for your turrets. Draw around the bottom of the rolls onto the cardboard, coming out wider than the rolls. Cut out your cardboard base on this line. Glue the rolls together where they touch (if this is too tricky you can use a stapler).
When the glue has set put more glue on your cardboard base and stick your castle shape on top (see picture). Leave the glue to fully dry. Next you can draw the de- sign you want onto your castle; I drew the shapes of the turrets and cut them out and I drew windows and a door. Now the fun part..paint your castle any colour and design you want…you can stick flags on it, put glitter on it... its up to you. Leave to dry and stock up with your favourite pencils and pens. I hope you have a tidy table from now on!
