Special Film Preview for SWVS Attendees - ‘The Dog’ Starring Kate Walsh. Panel Discussion, Q&A to Follow Sponsored by IndeVets
Thursday, Sept. 26 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM Ballroom B
ZEN DEN Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday Symposium Hours A quiet zone for any registered attendee. It is meant to create peace, tranquility and focus. The type of break we could all use, right? The purpose of having a separate room for this is to provide our attendees an escape and a chance to hang out away from meetings for a bit. No talking, food or drink allowed.
“The Dog,” a 12-minute film featuring Kate Walsh, explores the mental health and high suicide rates within the veterinary profession, centered on a vet named Claire dealing with pressures at a 24-hour clinic. The film aims to raise awareness for mental wellbeing in the vet industry, offering it as an educational resource to spark discussions and encourage empathy towards veterinarians. SWVS plans to host the first major industry screening, featuring a panel with experts from the vet and mental health fields, to discuss the film’s themes and promote understanding of the link between veterinary work and mental health challenges. Written and directed by Danielle Baynes, the film is sponsored by veterinary staffing company IndeVets.
Join us in Fort Worth for the third annual SWVS Veterinary Technician Case Report Challenge. Candidates are required to be credentialed veterinary technicians, in good standing within their state, and have little to no previous, paid lecturing experience. We are looking for unique and interesting case management and nursing care scenarios. No limitation to species or case type. EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Submitted cases must be reviewed by a DVM or board-certified specialist to ensure quality and should be from one year prior to submission. A committee will review case outlines to determine who will be selected to present their case report at SWVS. Candidates will be evaluated on the unique qualities of their case, presentation quality, ability to present within the allotted time, and Q&A performance. A judging panel will select the winner of the challenge who will be awarded a special prize. Submission deadline is Thursday, June 27th, 2024, 11:59 PM CST Submit outline and application to info@swvs.org READ FULL GUIDELINES: https://swvs.org/swvs-events/ CASE REPORT CHALLENGE
