2026 Spring Camp Welcome Packet

Refresh.............................. 3 - Resources & Reminders - Camp Life 2025 Theme Dear Spring Break Camp Life Participants, We are very excited that you have decided to join us for Camp Life during the spring of 2026! We expect to have the privilege of ministering to nearly

400 Zambian children at Camp Life this upcoming summer. Your willingness to answer God’s call and spring. Camp Life can change the life of a child, both in this current life and for eternity. The children in your Spring Camp groups will be students living in our Tree of Life Children’s Village. The Tree of Life is a full- time residential care facility that serves as a temporary refuge for children that need a little extra care. Your commitment to participating in Spring Camp Life offers a unique opportunity to get to know and provide hope to these children whom you will come to adore. Thank you for choosing to actively engage in God’s Great Commission and ministry of reconciliation with these children in Zambia. As you prepare for this exciting week, we have created the enclosed guide designed to equip you every step of the way - from Camp readiness and international travel logistics as well as what you can expect while in Zambia and much more. I want you to feel comfortable knowing this Welcome Packet will serve as a source of both information and direction. As you read through its pages, I’d like to assure you that you are in good hands. You might be wondering, “How will I connect with children from such a different culture?” or “Am I spiritually mature enough to show God’s love to children I have never met?” or “What does it look like to spend a week in Africa? Will I be comfortable?” Just remember that God is exceedingly gifted at equipping those who are willing to minister in His name. To further support you, our Family Legacy team is well-equipped and experienced to help you address these questions— if He has called you, He will equip you! When I first attended Camp Life in 2024, I asked many of these same questions. Looking back, I have to say that Camp Life was one of the most meaningful and joyful experiences I’ve had and I saw God change me and many of the children - including my own kids - through the weeks I participated. We are confident that your time in Zambia will be INCREDIBLE and will leave a lasting impact on your life as well as the lives of the children in your Spring Camp Life group. Thank you for joining us! If you have any questions, please reach out to your Missions Account Manager.

Sincerely in Christ,

John Hasse President and CEO of Family Legacy

Why Zambia?

Located in Sub-Saharan Africa, Zambia is a nation that has experienced the devastation of HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty. The impact of this has resulted in a population largely comprised of children. With a population of over 21.70 million people, 42% of Zambia’s population is age 14 or under. At Family Legacy, we seek to serve the most vulnerable of these children through inviting them to experience the hope of Christ and providing a transformative education.

This past summer my family had the privilege of serving with Family Legacy at Camp Life in Lusaka, Zambia, and it was truly life changing. We were overwhelmed by the joy, resilience, and spirit of the children we were blessed to pour into. Seeing firsthand how Family Legacy provides quality education and shares the hope of the gospel reaffirmed to us how essential this mission is. Our time at Camp Life deepened our connection and faith as a family, opened our eyes to the power of God’s love at work. It reminded us that investing in these children’s futures, both academically and spiritually, has an eternal impact. We left Zambia not only inspired but also more committed to supporting and sharing the mission of Family Legacy.

What We Do At Family Legacy, our work is focused on one goal: serving the vulnerable and orphaned children of Zambia so they can live up to their God-given potential . We accomplish this goal through inviting them to experience the hope of Christ and providing a transformative education.

Camp Life is a cornerstone of Family Legacy’s mission to bring hope and transformation to Zambia’s most vulnerable children. It is a powerful, week-long experience for both the children we serve and the ambassadors who travel to Zambia to serve alongside us. Year after year, children by the thousands and ambassadors by the hundreds come together to experience God’s grace and transformation through His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our Legacy Academy program is our largest program that serves more than 10,000 children. From school uniforms, textbooks, school supplies and more, we provide the tools for students to begin their educational journey. The Legacy Academy school network includes 18 private-Christian schools in 17 communities surrounding Lusaka, each filled with a dedicated staff to help students reach their God-given potential academically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

The Tree of Life Children’s Village is a transitional full-time living facility for children who have faced situations no child should have to experience. Children admitted into the Tree of Life may suffer from extreme medical conditions and their guardians are unable to provide necessary care or their home situation is unsuitable for the child to live. Spanning over 130-acres the Tree of Life has a neighborhood of homes, a school, access to quality healthcare, playgrounds, and more.

The reality of graduating from high school is a distant dream for many of the children that first enter our program. Going to a trade school or even graduating from university is an even bigger feat. The Excel Beyond program was created to give students yet another opportunity to go beyond the normal classroom and hands-on achieve their big dreams of becoming a professional in their preferred field or learn a trade to become employed.

How We Do It

What is the Tree of Life?

When a vulnerable Zambian child faces an unsafe home or alarming sickness, the Tree of Life Children’s Village meets them with dignity and relentless hope. This full-time residential care facility is a temporary refuge for over 400 vulnerable children , located on 130 acres just outside Lusaka. Every child admitted to the Tree of Life receives a specialized care plan, customized to address each child’s specific needs as we prepare for them to return home.

Tree of Life Legacy Academy Our Tree of Life Legacy Academy takes a multi-faceted approach to education and holistic care. From school uniforms, textbooks, school supplies and more, we provide the necessary tools for our Tree of Life students to begin their educational journey.

Hill Wellness Center The Hill Wellness Center—located on the Tree of Live property— gives life-saving interventions to students who may lack access elsewhere, in addition to being a pioneer of infectious disease treatment and prevention.

Farm The Tree of Life Farm supplies all the chicken, eggs, vegetable oil, and peanut butter for the Tree of Life Children’s Village, and the children have the opportunity to be involved in every step of the process.

Bakery The Tree of Life Bakery supplies all the bread enjoyed in the Tree of Life Children’s Village. Children are gaining hands-on experience baking—and if you’ve ever been to Camp Life, you already know just how delicious this bread is!

Trades Our students develop real-world skills like carpentry, welding, sewing, and more. Not only do these skills open doors for them beyond grade school, but they also allow students to give back to the program— repairing desks, building shelves, and other meaningful activities.

Stay in touch with your Mission Account Manager for the latest news or with any questions you have throughout the process.

Spiritual Preparation for Camp Life As you prepare logistically for traveling to Zambia, our hope is that you would also begin to ask the Lord to prepare your heart to serve the children in Zambia. We will be walking you through this process and providing more insight through a weekly devotional series prepared by Danny Lightner, Family Legacy’s Spiritual Content Advisor. Immunizations At this time, the CDC and WHO do not require any immunizations for travel to Zambia. However, it is recommended that travelers consider vaccinations such as COVID-19, Hepatitis A, B and Typhoid, as well as staying upto-date on routine vaccinations. Medication for Malaria is also recommended in Zambia, especially for those adding on a side trip vacation to their Spring Break Camp Life experience. We recommend that you refer to your primary physician for medical advice, as the guidance you receive from them will be specific to you and your overall health. For more information about immunizations, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at www. cdc.gov/travel.
