Debbie’s Accounting...
1956 Mom married Tom Noyes when I was 3 yrs old and we lived in Park Gardens Apartments in 3B & later in 5C in Scranton, PA.Tommy was born in 1958. I was in kindergarten and was the featured singer in a Christmas program singing,“All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.” This is when we met the Marquarts, Slim and Shirley and their boys. Slim was a hugely tall man, or so I thought when I was only 3 to 4 yrs old. He used to swing us kids on his arms and we loved it! Shirley became friends with mom and they had a lifelong one! When we moved to Shavertown, Slim and Shirley moved just up the hill from us so they were always close. We never owned a house, only rented, as Tom job hopped to many different car lots. He always thought he did not get paid enough. In fact, every time we moved to be close to his work, he would move to another leaving us again. During the entire 13 year marriage, we moved 5 times. I actually went to 8 schools before I went to college!

We moved to a house in Dallas PA when I was in first grade. It had an amazing backyard in the winter when it would fill with water, freeze and created an ice rink to skate! Mom was a lot of fun, especially when she would turn away and say...”Slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch…” and then turn suddenly to us and reached out with her arms in the air to hug and tickle us. I remember Tom and my mom had a date night and they looked so happy when they left. After they got home, us kids were in bed, when there was a ruckus in their bedroom. It scared me. The next morning, my mom had a black eye and she told me she ran into the door. Even at such a young age, it did not make sense since I heard bad words and crying the night before.
