udith Vitanza-Kattan, author of Light & Shadow’s Dreamy Adventures, believes true community impact begins with
kindness, gratitude, and helping others. Originally from Honduras and now proudly calling Baton Rouge home, she has long been passionate about philanthropy and finding meaningful ways to serve her community. The inspiration behind her book began with a simple childhood gift. “Somebody gave me a notepad and said, ‘Kiddo, you can write,’” Judith recalls. Years later, after rediscovering that same notebook shortly before her father passed away, she felt inspired to write him a letter thanking him for the lessons he had instilled in her throughout her life. What started as a tribute soon became a children’s book designed to preserve those lessons for future gener- ations. Judith even created the illustrations herself, intentionally keeping the artwork simple and heartfelt. Through themes of gratitude, friendship, love, and compassion, the book encourages families to reconnect with the values that matter most. “We’re blessed to be here,” she says. “So we have to be grateful.” Giving back was always meant to be part of the project. Proceeds from the book support mental health initia- tives and organizations that help children and families thrive. Judith hopes the story reminds parents and children alike “to be kind” and to “help others in need,” just as her father did throughout his life. For Judith, community impact means taking action. “Let’s stop talking and start acting,” she says. Wheth- er through a book, a conversation, or a simple act of kindness, she hopes to continue making a difference, one family at a time.
