Resident Highlight– Melody
Melody was born January 20th. She is a resident here at Timber Ridge Eureka in Renaissance. Melody was born in Seattle WA and has lived in California, New York and then eventually moved to Ferndale. Melody went to Pasadena City College and then went on to Mira Costa JR College in Oceanside. She then got married to her husband Leo and was able to help raise her step kids; Lance and Paige, she then had another daughter in 1971 Stacia Marie. Melody worked at Blue Chip stamps, and also worked at DelNickys butcher in Oceanside. She was very active in the women's club and various other charities. She spent a year volunteering after work reu-
niting Vietnamese refugee families separated after the fall of Saigon. In the 80’ s Melody and her husband Leo separated and she eventually went on to marry Allen, where she continued to raise her daughter Stacia and helped raise her new step kids Danielle and Francesca. In 1989, her and Allen bought a farmhouse in Ferndale. While living in Ferndale Allen and Melody became guardians for their niece Nadine when she was just 5 years old. Nadine now has two daughters of her own and they call Melody “ Nana Banana ”. Melody worked at College of the Redwoods in EOPS and Student Services and started their scholarship department. Later, Melody also became guardian of Nadines twin sisters Natalie and Natasha. Some of Melody ’ s favorite things to do is cultivating her garden which had plenty of roses, over 83 varieties and make bouquets for people throughout Ferndale. Some of Melody ’ s favorite hobbies now is to color she loves to create wild and colorful drawings. Melody states that if she could do anything for a day it would be to dig in her garden as well as go feed animals whether they are farm or wildlife. Her favorite motto to live by is: Be Kind, Be Generous, and Be Helpful which is a great thing to live by! Thank you for sharing your story with us Melody. Timber Ridge is happy to have you!
