Bols family and friends lace up for fun run

“We all wanted to do something to give back,” Lanthier said, explaining the origin of the run. “It started off as a family thing. We’re a large family, born and raised in Russell.” Scattered somewhat across Eastern Ontario, members of the Bols family return to Russell village when they are able, so they can take part in the Run for the Bols. The brothers and sisters now welcome their nieces and nephews, and also family friends who may feel a strong connection with the WDMH. “We’re always around 50 people (participating),” said Lanthier. The Run for the Bols is a five-kilometre

Neither gloomy skies nor blustery wind can deter the Bols family from their goal of fundraising for the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation. A good- sized gathering of the Russell-based family gathered Saturday morning over theThanksgiving long weekend to do their best five kilometres in the semi-annual Run for the Bols. “We’ve had three runs, every second year,” saidHelen Lanthier, one of the co-organizers of this year’s family fun run.
