WORE OF THE BIBLE WOMEN Mrs. T. 0. Horton, Supt.

I T was a rainy day, and only three women besides the hostess, were in the room when we arrived for the Bible Class. Some way, as we gathered around the table, we felt a strange reluctance to teach the les son assigned for the day, and as we prayed, felt distinctly led to let the women open the subject for discussion. So laying our Bible on the table, we suggested a “ques tion box” for the afternoon. There was a moment o f silence, during which significant glances were exchanged by the women, and one o f them said, “ Mrs. C. has a ques tion to ask.” Mrs. C. was our hostess, and in response to a request for her ques tion, we learned that the other three women Were Spiritualists, and she wanted to know “ where they find it in the Bible.” The afternoon was spent in looking into the Word. Two o f the women went away never co return, refusing admission when we Called at their homes, but the third became the most regular attendant at the class, now and then protesting vigorously against some of the teaching, and at one time assuring the hostess that if she was a be regarded as a “lost sheep to he brought into the fold” she would remain away, yet always coming and always speak ing o f herself as a sinner. Faithfully, week after week, we gave her the gospel, making no direct appeal, just leaving the Spirit o f God to use His own Word, and then one glad day after the class was over came the confession, “ I have accepted Him, but

I fail so in some ways, will He accept me?” In choosing the “best verse” for our lesson the following-week, her selec tion was, “Whosoever1shall call on the name o f the Lord shall be saved.” It was good to have been at that little class on a rainy day. My little daughter came home from one o f the meetings fot High School girls distressed and in tears. I am afraid some one has been dealing with her who did not know how. She refuses to talk about the matter at all.” Thus spoke a young mother, a member o f the Bible class. We prayed about the matter and secured the mother’s permission to write to the daugh ter whom it was impossible to see. Then we wrote her the simple Gospel story enclosing, a little card for her to sign receiving Jesus Christ as her Saviour and Sin-bearer. Such a Sweet, simple reply as came back, saying that she understood and accepted the message. The mother says the little card is in her mirror, and the young girl is very happy. ‘Back East somewhere” a young girl o f twelve was making choice o f her voca tion. A pretty face, lithe figure and grace ful movements seemed to make it sure that as a toe-dancer, she . would be a success Circumstances brought the family to a Cal ■forma city. Here, through the faithful ministry o f the pastor o f a small church near her home, and the visits o f a Bible Woman, the child found Christ. She has
