dark days. Armies do not make might but, “right makes might.” Jesus was fight in cleansing the temple, and he had authority. The consciousness o f being in the will o f God gives authority. Miss Frances Haver- gal" tells o f going av«ay to boarding school where she was the only Christian among 100 girls. Her first feeling was one of dread at the thought of' confessing Christ before the gay, worldly girls. But her sec ond thought told her she could not help confessing Christ, “ for I am. the only one He has here” she said to herself. This thought strengthened her and how she was rewarded is told in her life story. "Was the Baptism of John from Heaven or from Men?"SBy one question Jesus laid the hearts o f these ecclesiastics open. A lad in Boston, rather small f%r his years, was employed in an office. The four clerks were fond o f teasing him about his stature, and said, “You will never suc ceed in business because you are so small.” “Well,” said he, “ small as I am, I can do something which none o f you four can. do.” “What is it?” they enquired. “Well, I can keep from swearing and that is more than you Cctn do.” He put them to confusion. Jesus’ words are like the Ford cars at the auto show. A Ford touring-car was placed in a booth and inside it was a phonograph which kept saying, “ I will take you there and bring you back.” “ I will take you there and bring you back.” These words told the whole ,story of the Ford car and you could not forget them. Jesus’, words state the truth so that you Cannot forget it. SUNDRY SOURCES . Brooks. attached to one side o f the cross and on the other, held, and swung to and fro by the forefinger o f mammon. for an hour or two. In another church the choir, after practicing the Sunday anthems, would put the chairs back by the wall and dance a while. An evangelist came to a certain church to hplfl a series o f meetings. The children o f the com munity ran the church. They ran from cel lar to steeple. They played tag and made all sorts o f noises imaginable. When the map o f God tried to hold a children’s meeting he found it almost impossible to conduct the service because o f the noise .and inconvenience o f the children, Only by strictest discipline did he succeed. "My Father’s House Shall Be Called a House of Prayer." —There are some church buildings which are kept open day and night in order that passersby may go in and pray. This is not a bad idea. A clergy man was showing his friend through his parsonage and opened 'the door o f a neat, pleasant little room over the hall which contained a chair, a table and a Bible. ’“ This,” he said, “ is our room for prayer." Anyone in the family may retire here for private devotions at any time. It is con secrated for this purpose and used for no other. And he added, “it is the most used •room in the house.” What a splendid idea for .every church and religious institution. "By What Authority Doest Thou These Things?’’- —Right carries authority with it. Truth has. freedom and power.
