Muffler Packing (Flat Mat) This is the ideal packing for any muffler which when stripped, the core or baffle tube comes out with the end cap. The mat is then cut into strips the same width as the tube and wrapped around until the outer diameter is the same as the outer cover. To hold the mat in place while assembling, put tape around the packing. If it is an oval pipe, just cut some 25mm strips and put them on the top and bottom to build up the right shape. To acheive the best results ensure that the holes in the tube are clean from carbon and other dirt before wrapping your tube with the new mat packing wool. Athena Muffler Packing (Flat Mat) Due to an increasing number of customers requests, Athena offers now a phonoabsorbant material for exhaust silencers specifically developed to meet the highest needs for insonorization. This special fiberglass wool, designed for 2 and 4 stroke exhaust silencers with density of 2,6 g/cm3, can bear working temperatures up to 550°C and peak temperatures up to 800°C. Muffler Packing Wool This is the best type of packing to use if your muffler leaves the core, or baffle tube in the pipe when your end cap is removed. To pack, just remove the old packing with a long hook and clean the baffle tube holes out with a wire brush. When repackaging do not ram it too tight, just firm. As you repack, keep an eye on the position of the end of your baffle tube, as the end cap will not fit back on if the baffle tube has gone off centre. Available in 200g or 500g bags.
