[317] Intro to Theatrical Costumes and Construction 16 Participants Explore what it takes to make theatrical costumes. This class will be very “hands-on.” Learn a few basic sewing skills and come away with a small tote bag that you sew yourself. [318] Journal Making with the Writing Center @ MSU 15 Participants Create your own creative journal to write your story in! During the class sessions, participants will be provided with a journal of their choice and decorating materials (i.e. markers, stickers, scrapbooking material, scissors, glue, etc.) to construct their journal. The Writing Center will also provide various prompts to include in the journals to think, reflect and write about. [319] Learning to Love Writing and Words 50 Participants View onscreen the steps in making the award- winning children’s book, “Mr. Mouthful Learns His Lesson.” We’ll review the choices a writer must make — and the book itself. Then we’ll also explore words, wordplay and important features of language. All children who attend will receive a free copy of the book.

[324] Name that Animal! 15 Participants

Guess an animal based off of a special adaption it’s made to thrive inside the environment that it lives in. After the guessing, there will be a brief discussion regarding the animal in question so participants can learn even more about the amazing adaptations around us.

Get ready to move! Join us for a dynamic blend between the martial arts and anatomical sciences. Basic kicking and punching techniques set the scene for discussing a variety of anatomical topics, including the cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems. Show off your newly gained skills by breaking a real wood board! [326] Pickleball 24 Participants Learn the basics of pickleball in an active, fun atmosphere. [327] Pizza Making Seminar 10 Participants Learning how to make pizza from scratch and using different technics, sauces and toppings!

Use your imagination to envision what’s not yet but can be, and take the initiative to make it happen. We will use a Play-Makers playbook to share stories about our own ideas and learn about other Play- Makers from around the world. We will also enjoy making a collaborative art piece together. [329] Sled Dog School 20 Participants Learn about the world of sled dogs as we head to Sled Dog School.

Learn basic weaving techniques and make your own simple basket out of reed (both plain and dyed).

[321] Microbe Art 101 20 Participants

Explore the field of colorful microbes by delving into agar art, learning about synthetic pigments that bacteria have been engineered to produce and naturally colored microbes. This class will have everyone using microscopes to see some colorful samples first-hand and then designing agar art for themselves.

[322] Microscope Guessing Game 15 Participants

How does Velcro work? Are all cell phone screens the same? Why does cat hair stick to everything? Use optical and scanning electron microscopes to answer these questions and many more.
