Tides & Times Fall 2025

Seaside Session This quarter’s Seaside Session is brought to you by Public Works.

The City plans to construct a 2-million gallon water storage tank and extend a new 30-inch water transmission line in the Windy Hill, Atlantic Beach, and Crescent Beach areas. The City received a $10 million grant from the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) as part of the South Carolina Infrastructure Investment Program (SCIIP), which will fund the majority of this project. These improvements will increase the resiliency and reliability of the City’s public water system.

The City, through AECOM Engineering, has completed project design and is in the process of obtaining easement acquisitions for the water transmission line. Construction on the transmission line is scheduled to begin in September of 2025. Construction on the water tank in Windy Hill has begun. The anticipated completion date for this project is Summer of 2026. Construction will be limited to the public road rights-of way and areas within any permanent and temporary construction easements. The public should expect lane closures and traffic detours as work progresses on the transmission line. Phase one work on the transmission line will take place on Windy Hill Extension Road then Poinsett Street from Windy Hill Road to 33rd Avenue South. An intermediate connection will be made from Poinsett Street to Highway 17 on 33rd Avenue South. Phase two of this project will follow. Stay tuned for more details!
