FAITH

SOME REASONS WHY PEOPLE GO TO CHURCH You ask me why I go to church, I give my mind a careful search, Because I need to breathe the air where there's an atmosphere of prayer. I need the hymns the churches sing, they set my faith and hope a wing. They keep old truths in memory green, reveal the worth of things un seen. Because my neighbor needs to go— his faith in right is rather low. He needs the church to hold him fast to those great truths that always last. And when he sees me on my way, it draws him to the church to pray, And both our hearts are lifted up to heavenly places where we sup. Because my boy is watching me to note whatever he can see That tells him what his father thinks, and with his eager soul he drinks The things I do in daily walk, the things I say in daily talk. If I with him the church will share, my son will make his friend ships there. HOW DO I STAND WITH GOD I guess I pass inspection— When I go by, the neighbors nod— But still (upon reflection) How do I stand with God? Far from the tyrant's rod. But that doesn't answer the question: Just how do I stand with God? I go to church on Sunday, Say, why do I feel so odd? Is it because man's righteousness Doesn’t make him right with God? I live in a noble country

Doubt floods my soul And discouragement too— I can't comprehend— How can it come true? "Believe in His Word"— A simple conclusion Satan is trying To bring us confusion. We are to receive," And "Wait on the Lord,” He does not deceive. "Be of good cheer," Satan has lost; Victory is ours; Faith was the cost. It says, " If we ask

THE EGO SHRINE It's I, and my, and me, and ihine; I worship at the ego shrine; I haven't time for thee and thine— It's I, and my, and me, and mine. I puff, and blow, and show, and crow, And spread it on where'er I go. I want the whole wide world to know M y high and mighty status quo. I'm much in love with number one; Just think of all the good I've done! To count the trophies I have won Would take from morn to setting sun. And when I rise to testify. To praise the name of God on high, I seek my Christ to glorify, But it's me, and mine, and my, and I. — H. Robb French

If I must give it all away— Go hungry— walk unshod— I'll not let pass another day Till I get right with God!
