Whitecroft Lighting is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of commercial lighting with a specialty in lighting education including primary, secondary and further education environments. The company manufactures all its products in the UK, and in recent years has completed major projects with the University of Manchester, High School of Dundee, Ulster University Belfast and De La Salle College, Dundalk. Founded in 1945, the company undertakes all research and development, product design and manufacturing from its headquarters and 10,000sqm manufacturing facility in Ashton under Lyne, Greater Manchester. Over recent years, Whitecroft Lighting has been at the forefront of sustainability and circularity in commercial lighting, leading the market in the development of products that minimise waste and promote reusability through replaceable modular hardware. Many of Whitecroft’s products are Cradle to Cradle Certified, assuring customers it considers the materials used, the effect

on people and the environment, and their re-use and later recycling at the end of life. Electrical contractor Braham Group selected Whitecroft Lighting products for Ashbourne Community National School (CNS) after their specification in a successful tender by Belfast-based M&E consultant Tetra Tech. Around 650 Whitecroft luminaires and 150 lighting control sensors have been installed throughout all internal areas of the school including assembly and sports halls, classrooms and corridors. The Whitecroft products fitted include the Stiletto, Flight and Mirage ranges. Lighting controls automatically adjust the lighting in each area of the school based on changing levels of daylight and room occupancy, reducing energy use and minimising energy bills. Using modular units which allow key components to be replaced will enable the facilities team at Ashbourne CNS

Michael Martin, Whitecroft Lighting Northern Ireland Sales Manager, said, “Lighting is essential to enhancing the learning environment, whether that’s a small or large group setting, and for supporting different learning styles. The Whitecroft products fitted at Ashbourne CNS deliver this, are simple and logical to use, and will deliver significant energy- saving benefits. “Whitecroft was brought onto this project because Braham Group recognised that we could provide locally manufactured, sustainable, high-quality lighting for the build of Ashbourne CNS within the required quick timescales. “Braham Group had confidence that Whitecroft could manage and deliver this project seamlessly, and we worked in tandem with their team to ensure a smooth delivery and installation process from start to finish. “This project is a prime example of how good lighting choices can deliver greater energy and cost savings and create a premium space for learners and educators.”
