To provide the high-

quality connectivity needed to support modern learning, schools need a reliable, secure infrastructure. In 2023, Onnec was commissioned to install a full end-to- end structured cabling solution at Ashbourne Community National School.

Scan Alarms & Security Systems (UK) Limited supplied the school with a fire alarm, disabled refuge, intruder alarms, disabled toilet, panic attack, access control, CCTV and access control systems, having been awarded the contract by Barry Trainor of the Braham Group.

Commencing in February 2023, the six-month project involved installing a Cat 6A U/FTP cabling and Fibre Optic solution for five primary and post-primary schools within Meath, Dublin, Louth and Westmeath, as well as a further four locations nearing completion. Specialist at Scan Alarms & Security Systems, said, “As the contract covered

all life safety and security systems, we were able to provide co-ordination of interfacing between systems without any issues. This provided Braham Group with one point of contact to ensure key dates were met. “Scan Alarms engineers are fully trained in all of the systems we provided and due to this, we did not encounter any major challenges. We were able to complete all systems on time and met the programme without issues.” Formed in Belfast in 1980, Scan Alarms has grown organically to become one of the largest and longest established electronic fire and security systems specialists in Northern Ireland. Currently employing just over 60 people in Mallusk, it also operates a base in Dublin.
