By James Barrie I t is amazing what a great app can do for a company and when it is a hit as seen with Nintendo’s new Pokemon GO mobile game, the company’s stock jumped as much as 9.5 percent. Pokemon GO is a mobile virtual reality game, where players walk around real-life neighborhoods to hunt down virtual cartoon characters on their smartphone screens. Not something that people will want to do right; well Pokemon GO had more than 65 million users in the U.S. in just seven days after its launch and is appealing to all age groups making the app a huge success and making it one of the top apps in both Apple and Androids apps stores in record time. Given the interaction with the user and the need for the player to search real neighborhoods, marketing industry experts say the game could be the next big marketing tool for retailers and a real game changer for boosting sales.
