SUNDAY SCHOOL continued self through the individual bearing the cluster of fruit set forth in verses 22 and 23. Taken together, these virtues in their perfection present a portrait of Christ. He is the only one who has ever perfectly manifested this fruitage. The best, way for the believer to approach the ideal in Christian living and to bear the fruit set forth in this passage, is to keep his gyes upon Jesus. Not only is He our Saviour and Lord, He is also our supreme example in living. Note each part of the fruit cluster presented here and think how it was fully expressed in Him. Thus the Apostle shows that those who are identified with the Spirit of God, who have His life within them, need to re member that they “ have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts” (v. 24). They nefed also to be careful to “Walk in the Spirit” (v. 25) and to keep free from self-seeking, envy and jealousy (v. 26). Note how often and in what re spects the Holy Spirit is referred to in today’s lesson. See verses 16, 17, 18, 22, and 25. The life of true victory and Christian liberty is to be “ led by the Spirit of God.” (Cf. Romans 8). Christianity and Others 6:1-5 This section shows what ought to be the attitude of believers toward one an other. Spiritual Christians ought to do all that they can to restore or mend the lives of those who have sinned. The word restore is the same word used to tell of “mending” nets (v. 1). (Compare Matt. 4:21.) Those brethren who are burdened ought to be helped in every possible way (w . 2-5). Christianity is practical. Helps for the Children Doing Right Gladly Galatians 5:13-15; 6:1-5 Memory Verse: "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ" (Gal. 6:2). You will remember from last week’s lesson that some of the people in the Galatian churches were keeping others out of the church who would not obey the Old Testament laws. Paul wrote to the Galatian Christians and told them that they were displeasing God because they were adding to what He had given as the way of salvation. Some people who were called Judaizers insisted upon the rules that they had made being kept. Paul reminded them that part of the law which they were making others keep said, “ Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” The Judaizers were not keeping this law, for they were being unkind to all who refused to follow their rules of living. God does not want those who belong to Him to obey His laws because of fear. He wants them to gladly follow His commandments. Paul also told the Galatian Christians how they were to treat those who sinned. They were to be kind to the one who had sinned and try to help him to live in a way that would honor the Lord Jesus. Always the Christians were to remember that Satan might cause them to yield to the temptation to sin. Rather than feeling that they were better than others, they were to prayerfully “ by love serve one another” .
