alongside of the other, with the prongs of each resting on the iron.) See, after having been close to the cross and working together, they lift the iron easily. When Christians stay close to Christ, love each other and work together, they can do things which otherwise would be impossible for them to accomplish. An example of this is found in Galatians 2:9, “And when James, Cephas,-and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellow ship, that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circum cision.” f i s h in g u C E N S E June 21, 1953 L earning A bout a L icense OBJECT: A fishing license. LESSON: How would you like to go fishing with me? The boys seem quite anxious to go, but the girls are not so sure. Girls, I think you would enjoy going, as it is not an ordinary trip. If we are to go fishing, what must we take? “ Pole, line, and bait.” That is a pretty good answer, but you have forgotten something. What about a license? “ Oh, yes, we forgot.” I am ready to go. I have my license. Here it is. When you get a license, are you entitled to catch fish anywhere you choose? No! You would not be al lowed to fish in a private fish-pond or catch goldfish out of a bowl. If you thought your fishing license gave you liberty to catch fish anywhere 47 T/Crr 7^4 'rr( r NfAee•***•*•* HfFCA 1 -wwr «■“ ' - - 7*-, Jrr Jr - I/vo ¿Ane m JWfT A/I/f AAO 6A W yrAADAN

further, I read the word “ LOVE.” In Romans 13:8, we read, “ Owe no man any thing, but to love one an other.” The last word is “ TALENTS.” God expects us to give in service of the talents He has given us. Giving is more than money. It includes our time, our love, and our talents. June 14, 1953 T he L ift of L ove OBJECTS: Two magnets, a piece of iron and a red cardboard cross. (The iron should be too heavy for one magnet to lift, but light enough for two to lift when working together. Test and mark the negative and positive poles on each. This can be determined by noticing whether they push or pull each other.) LESSON: (Make sure that the positive poles of each magnet face each other.) These magnets have a mysterious drawing-power under certain cir cumstances; but notice how they push each other away. They do not care much for each other. They re mind us of some Christians who do not obey the command of the Bible to love one another. “ A new com mandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ■ ye also love one another” (John 13:34). You will notice that these magnets are weak, unable to lift this piece of iron. When Christians are weak, and do not love each other, it is because they are too far away from Christ. We

OBJECT: A paper handbag. (Make by using a piece of paper 8% x 11 inches, or larger if visibility requires. Fold the paper to make the size 4*4 x 5% inches. With the single fold to your left, and the double fold nearest you, begin cutting at the lower right side. Cut toward the top and middle, making half of the shape of a woman’s handbag. Open one fold, and on the front side, in the middle, cut out a half inch strip from the top to the bottom. Between the edges where the strip has been

cut out, print vertically the word “ GIVE.” Open the handbag, and, using the letters of the word “ GIVE,” complete t h e following words: “ GOLD, TIME, LOVE, TALENTS.” Crease the front of the handbag in order that it will fold down just be low the word “ GOLD.” It should be creased below each word, so that each will be hidden until desired during the lesson. Color the inside and outside of the handbag a light brown.) LESSON: Who can guess what I am holding in my hand? (Exhibit the back.) “ It looks like a handbag.” It is made to represent a handbag, and instead of initials we see the word “ GIVE.” We are reminded of Paul’s words in Second Corinthians 9:7, “ Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” We will open the handbag to see what God wants us to give. First, we see the word “ GOLD.” One tenth of our money belongs to God. Next, there is the word “ TIME.” We need constantly to be reminded that at least one-seventh of our time belongs to God. As I open the handbag

will move the magnets close to the cross and see what happens. (While bringing them near the cross, turn one over, causing the poles to change positions.) They now jump toward each other. We shall see how they work to gether in lifting the iron. (Place one
