How to Change the World, One Win at a Time DO YOU KNOW YOUR ‘WHY’?

need to do differently in 2023. I’m also asking myself the big question every business owner should consider at the start of a new year: “Going forward, how do I want to effect change in the world around me?” Figuring out a truthful, inspiring response to that question can be challenging. But it’s possible! My team and I have worked with dozens of forward-thinking companies that have mastered their answers. It’s our pleasure to bring their wild, imaginative innovations to life. The Humane Society of the United States, for example, is effecting change by advocating for sustainable fashion that doesn’t include animal products — like “leather” bags made from mushrooms! I’m so excited that I can hardly contain it: 2022 was Eventique’s best year yet! We’ve planned more events, worked with more clients, and hired more new team members than ever before. Our team actually doubled in size last year. That’s a huge win for companies like yours. Next time you need us to plan an event, we’ll have more people ready to spring into action. The growth didn’t happen overnight. We had a challenging few years during the pandemic, but we’re finally gaining momentum again. It feels like a dream come true! I’ve been hoping and praying the world would recover from COVID-19, and now the future is here, waiting for us to seize it. I’ve spent the last few weeks figuring out what our company did well last year, which challenges we faced, and what we

helped them do that.) Other businesses we’ve worked with are fighting waste or reducing their carbon emissions to protect the health of our planet. When a company comes to us with these big, audacious goals, we challenge ourselves to execute their vision. That could mean crafting sustainable origami centerpieces shaped like animals, removing printed signage altogether in exchange for digital signage that won’t end up in a landfill, or using hologram technology to allow a CEO to appear at a board meeting halfway across the world while reducing his carbon footprint. When it comes to helping our clients achieve their dreams, nothing is too out there for us to imagine — we’ve made all of those things happen and more! Of course, it’s not enough to bring a client’s vision for change to life. We also need to create a meaningful, engaging experience for everyone attending their event. When we sit down to craft each proposal, we ask ourselves, “How can we tell the story of this client’s vision in a way that will inspire the audience and encourage them to change?” Your “why” is our guiding light, the north on our compass, our port in the storm on that journey. If you haven’t found your “why” for 2023 yet, now is the time to step back, reflect, and figure it out. Dig deep to discover what motivates and excites your organization. What brings your imagination to life? You can also look for your personal “why.” There, your goal doesn’t have to be world-changing. One of the things that gets me out of bed each morning is the joy of watching my kids flourish as they learn new things. Their brains light up when I take them to museums, parades, and festivals — but those cultural experiences have been few and far between since we moved from the Upper West Side to Long Island. After three years of playing it safe in the suburbs and kicking soccer goals in the backyard to avoid the dangers of COVID-19, I’m excited to immerse kids in the artistic sounds, smells, and sights of the city again. 2023 will be a whirlwind of art galleries and musicals to contrast the steady rhythms of our small town. It’s okay to start small. Celebrate those little wins in the service of your “why.” Soon, you’ll be ready to change the world — and Eventique will be here to help you do it!

“I have had the great pleasure of knowing Liron and many of his team since they started Eventique. We have collaborated both on the venue and talent side, and it’s always a seamless experience. 3 EVENTS TO CHANGE THE FUTURE Eventique Brings Your Aspirations to Life

T he Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has an ambitious dream: to protect every animal in the country from harm. Their vision includes finding families for dogs and cats stranded on the streets, of course — but it doesn’t stop there. They also picture a future without factory farming, animal testing, or the use of the fur, leather, and other animal products in the clothing we wear every day. Upending the fur and leather industries may seem impossible, but when HSUS came to Eventique with that mission, the team embraced it! Their strategists decided to live by the maxim “If you can see it, you can believe it,” and on Friday, Nov. 11, they painted a picture of that cruelty-free fashion future during HSUS’s “To the Rescue!” gala. When guests stepped inside, they were enveloped by warm autumnal lighting and dazzled by enormous, stylized leaves “falling” from the ceiling and sprouting from the floor. Origami centerpieces in the shape of foxes, pigs, elephants, rabbits, and dogs crouched on the tabletops, and a nearby installation highlighted vegan clothing and accessories from Neiman Marcus, side-by-side with an “Innovation Lab” curated by Material Innovation Initiative (MII). The lab invited guests to rethink their closets, showcasing companies creating game-changing vegan fabrics and other sustainable materials. Clusters of mushrooms sprouted from the Mylo Unleather display, artfully arranged next to a purse made from mycelium (mushroom) leather. “HSUS has been doing this annual fundraiser for 13 years, so we always have to reimagine the event,” says Eventique Vice

President of Creative and Strategy Eric Wielander. “This year, the theme was ‘fashion forward’ … A big part of the show was focused on these new, innovative companies that make scarves out of orange fiber, clutches out of apple leather, and shoes out of mushroom leather.” Andy Cohen hosted the event, while celebrities like Amy Sedaris and Justin Theroux wandered through, bidding on one-of-a-kind items, including a vegan “To the Rescue!” sweater and posing for Instagram shots at the Neiman Marcus photo moment. The night ended with a video that brought the origami animal centerpieces to life for a disco boogie — and left attendees inspired to fund a future they previously didn’t think possible. The “To the Rescue!” gala was one of many Eventique events that have dared attendees to reimagine the world they live in.

Through fundraisers, team-building events, galas, and industry gatherings, Eventique helps its clients follow their “whys” and influence the future — one successful cocktail party, catwalk moment, or panel discussion at a time. “We’re always pushing toward the client’s why,” says Eventique founder Liron David. “That’s something that continues to keep us alive, to inspire us, and to allow us to use our imaginations.” Every company has a different “why.” For some, like The Humane Society, animal welfare is a driving force. Other businesses prioritize sustainability, human rights, gender equality, or furthering the success of their industry writ large. No “why” is too big or too small. In recent months, Eventique produced two very different mission-driven events: one for the software company Code Climate and another for UN Women’s Unstereotype Alliance. For the UN Women event, Eventique spent two days at the United Nations orchestrating high-level conversations between UN Women, its platforms like the Unstereotype Alliance, its brand partners, and the media representatives. The presentations revolved around the portrayal of women in marketing and advertising, and the Unstereotype Alliance advocated for reshaping the narrative and leaving negative stereotypes behind. At Code Climate, guests found New York City’s Lavan 541 transformed into a coder’s mecca, complete with 360-degree projection mapping, industry panels, complimentary bites, and an open bar. The attendees — both Code Climate employees and fellow professionals — were on a mission to redefine the profession of coding, strengthen its place in the tech sector, and shape the next generation of coders.

“They are asking, ‘How can we make them more well-rounded and integrated into the system and the company?’ and ‘What does their career projection look like?’” said Eventique senior project coordinator Elliot Marach, who orchestrated the event. HSUS, UN Women, and Code Climate have all figured out one of the biggest secrets of business: As the author Mark Twain so eloquently put it, “If you want to change the future, you must change what you’re doing in the present.” Spreading the word through a fundraising gala for 2,000 or a cocktail party for 50 could be the perfect place to start.

From the Dining Room to the Board Room HOW EVENTIQUE’S ELLIOT MARACH LEVELED UP

As Elliot Marach sees it, coordinating high-level events for Eventique has a lot in common with waiting tables. Both fast- paced jobs bring you face to face with people from all walks of life, ranging from ordinary Joes to fashion, technology, and real estate executives. “That is probably my favorite part of this job,” he says, referring to his position as senior project coordinator at Eventique. “On any given day, I could be talking to a vendor with a small company out of Long Island or a huge real estate conglomerate with a global presence. I’m often interacting with them back to back, and that change of characters is something I really love.” The back-and-forth reminds him of his college days, when he took orders at restaurants and picked up catering gigs to finance his bachelor’s degree in musical theater. “I associate [the work at Eventique] with greeting a table for the first time [as a server] and dealing with 10–20 tables through the night. Those people come from different walks of life and have different personalities. I had to be able to relate

to them and create the vision that they wanted for the night. That process was really gratifying.” Between his serving gig in college and joining the Eventique team last fall, Elliot stretched his event-planning muscles in Hollywood. He helped coordinate high-pressure premieres for movie studios as part of an event consulting company based in Los Angeles. During those Hollywood days, Elliot learned how to juggle dozens of tasks and perform the near impossible for clients in a high-stress environment. Today, he puts his skills and versatility to work at Eventique. In his short time with the company, he has already worked on large-scale events, like eCore22 and the WorkWave Annual Conference, and has dozens more on the calendar. Between site visits, he stays busy taking client calls, sending quotes, pitching event ideas to PR firms, creating floor plans and mood boards, compiling budgets, and coordinating with unique vendors like glass blowers and drone pilots. “Seeing the event come to life is the cherry on top, and day-to- day getting there is never the same adventure,” he says.

JUST WRAPPED

3 Favorite Events From 2022

Welcome to “Just Wrapped,” a monthly summary of what our team has been up to. Every year, we plan events like corporate parties, virtual experiences, concerts, and charity galas. This list is just a small peek behind the curtain. New-York Historical Society’s Historical Halloween — Our team loves working on over-the-top Halloween events, especially when we can partner with the New-York Historical Society! This industry showcase for event professionals took place in the venue’s Courtyard Tent and included a viewing of the “The Salem Witch Trials: Reckoning and Reclaiming” exhibition. Eventique proudly sponsored the event and provided scenic lightboxes with custom graphics and a roaming photographer to capture the festivities. Executive Conference on Real Estate 2022 (eCore22) — This exclusive event connected multifamily real estate executives, owners, and operators with leading equity groups, lenders, brokers, and other industry experts. Throughout the three-day conference, Eventique helped plan and execute a networking room filled with sponsor booths, a coffee bar, and lounges to encourage meetings and deals. We also designed and built a panel room and engineered a welcome party, gala dinner, after-party, and closing party pool bash. Leadership Council Conference — Eventique produced this two-day South Carolina conference for a high-profile client at the luxurious Hotel Bennett — and it was one of our favorite events of 2022! Thirty-five members of the client’s top-level leadership team attended, enjoying keynote speakers David Horsager and Stephanie Chung, and a The War & Treaty concert in The Cedar Room of the historic Cigar Factory. The Importance of Finding Your ‘Why’

How to Change the Future

Our Monthly Event Rundown

BRING YOUR GRAND EVENT VISION TO LIFE! With These 3 Tips From Elliot Marach

“That wow factor is what people are going to remember,” he says. “One big statement will have a lot more legs than if everything is mid- or low-tier.” 2. ‘Double dip’ with vendors or get crafty to save on decor. If you’ve hired a vendor to create signage, why not ask if they can craft a backdrop for you too? “Double dipping” this way can save you money on labor, trucking, and other fees. Of course, the DIY route may be the cheapest of all if you have the necessary skills. 3. Save the wow factor for the send-off. “Everybody wants balloon arches or ice sculptures at the beginning of their event, but the guests won’t see it when they walk out, so it may not leave a lasting impression,” Elliot says. He recommends saving money on the entrance and allocating your funds to the end of the night instead. “The energy always has to go up in an event — it can never go down,” he says. If you keep these things in mind, you can bring your vision to life without compromising your budget.

Here at Eventique, we like to think big — then reconcile our client’s budget with our vision. If you have over-the-top hopes for this Valentine’s Day or your next birthday party, you can go through the same process to turn your dream into a show-stopping reality at home. To guide you through those steps, we turned to Eventique Senior Project Coordinator Elliot Marach. Elliot’s background planning Hollywood movie premiers and studying musical theater has given him a flair for the dramatic, but he’s also a pro at cutting that drama down to size. Here are his tips for scaling your grand ideas to fit the realities of your budget, space, and timeline — without compromising your vision.

1. Splurge on your statement piece. Which piece of your event do you care about the most? Maybe you want a to-die-for delicious birthday cake or a beautiful backdrop for your Valentine’s Day proposal. Elliot recommends you pick one thing and “really crush it,” then budget on the rest.
