Some people may think it’s impossible to eat flavorful food while also maintaining a healthy body. But it’s much simpler (and more manageable) than you think. You can eat what you want, when you want, and still live a healthy lifestyle. Here are four strategies you can use to love the food you eat while feeling confident in your body. Savor food in small portions. While it may be tempting to overindulge yourself in your favorite meal, it’s best to eat smaller portions. Doing this allows you to cut your calorie intake and not stretch your stomach muscles while eating. So, take your time while eating and savor every bite you take. Wait at least 20 minutes before going for seconds if you’re still hungry after your first portion. Make water your default beverage. Drinking water daily flushes out toxins from your organs, provides nutrients to your cells and prevents dehydration. Unfortunately, some people don’t drink enough water throughout the day that their bodies desperately need. So, drink water instead of drinking soda, coffee, tea or juices throughout the day. You can sip on your beverage of choice when you’re eating meals to give you that boost of energy you may need. Limit your intake of processed foods. Buying processed foods can lead people to eat more amounts of sugar, sodium, carbs, salt and fat than recommended. Heavily processed foods can lead to serious health issues such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and more. So, to keep your body happy and healthy, limit the number of processed foods you eat. You don’t have to avoid these foods altogether, but eat them in moderation or pair them with foods that will add additional nutrients to your body. It’s all about moderation. Developing a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean following strict diets or eliminating foods you love to eat — it’s about moderation. Practice mindful eating and try not to overindulge in your favorite foods. By practicing healthy eating habits and strategies, you can still eat what you love while also benefiting your body.
