VISION 2028 Access and Excellence
“Being able to share our music and art with that many people is really a gift that we were given.”
Dear Interlochen Family and Friends,
– Iris, MUKTI collaborator
Interlochen’s most valuable resource is our community. We draw together students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and supporters—anyone who shares our conviction that the arts make the world a better place. Thank you for being part of this community. Since our founding almost 100 years ago, Interlochen has grown, and each subsequent generation has benefited from—and built on—the vision, hard work, and generosity of those who came before. Together, we have a long history of setting audacious goals and achieving them. As we look ahead to our second century, we’re excited to honor Interlochen’s legacy with bold new goals and a deepening commitment to Excellence and Access . While the pursuit of Excellence is a founding principle of Interlochen, we will continue to raise the bar on arts education by connecting our students with world-class artists, educators, and experiences. This past year, we welcomed more than 150 guest artists to our campus, including New York Times best-selling author Ross Gay; Melanie Person, co-director of the Ailey School in New York; and Nathalie Doucet, Head of Music and Director of Detroit Opera House. By ensuring Access , we can provide the scholarship support needed to eliminate barriers that can stand in the way of an Interlochen experience for young artists. That’s why we have set an ambitious goal to meet the full demonstrated financial need of every admitted aspiring artist by our 100th year in 2028. Our yearlong partnership with the New York Philharmonic illustrates where we are headed as an organization. We were able to provide life-changing experiences to our current students while also opening our doors by offering 30 full Camp scholarships to talented artists from the New York City area. In our first 95 years, Interlochen has built a remarkable home for the arts and a vibrant community that spans the globe. Our success is based on many factors, including the generosity and vision of our donors who believe in our mission. Thank you to all of our supporters this year. You are helping us create exceptional opportunities for young artists worldwide.
