CURRENT AND FORMER TRUSTEES WITH PLANNED GIFTS

RECEIVED FROM REALIZED PLANNED GIFTS $3,820,381

I am grateful to be part of the experience, which is why I designated Interlochen as a beneficiary of my estate. Making this gift will keep the magic of Interlochen alive for future generations.” – Ron Stowe, Trustee Emeritus, Arts Camp/Arts Academy Parent (IAC/NMC 55-62, IAA 62-63, IAA St 64, 66)

Camp Proximity Leads to Scholarships Later Helen Grinnell had fond memories of listening to the sound of orchestra music come through the trees— from a distance. She was enrolled in Camp Interlochen for Girls, an entirely different camp that coexisted with Interlochen before being bought by Interlochen President Joe Maddy in the 1940s. Grinnell had many connections to “the camp across the street.” Her grandfather owned Grinnell Brothers Piano in Detroit, and her father was a close friend and supporter of Dr. Maddy—he once helped Maddy ship an organ from Detroit over unpaved country roads to campus. Helen went on to find success in business and sports, winning the Women’s Club Championship at the Detroit Golf Club 12 times. She also was an avid nature photographer. Throughout her life, Helen was a supporter of Camp and later, the Academy. Her planned gift created two new endowed scholarships that will allow future generations of students to experience the arts: the Helen Grinnell Camp Scholarship and the Helen Grinnell Academy Scholarship.
