Interlochen Center for the Arts 2022 Annual Report

VISITING FACULTY

“Visiting and guest faculty help put a shoulder under students’ dreams and carry alongside them for a while.”

Among the impressive array of visiting faculty this year was Academy Writer- in-Residence Oren Safdie. He brought an interdisciplinary energy to campus, which culminated in his students’ end-of-semester playwriting showcases— The Gods Play Here and Organic, Grass-Fed Scenes and Monologues —comprised of young artists in Creative Writing, Theater, and Interdisciplinary Arts producing and performing original 10-minute plays adapted from Greek myths. Similarly, Film and New Media students celebrated the tenth anniversary of Animation at Camp, Interlochen launched a new Animation Program at Academy and welcomed a new director of animation, Briana Yarhouse. Leading the launch was Academy Filmmaker-in-Residence Bailey Sitton, who hosted Previsualization/Storyboarding, Editing, Motion Graphics, and an Introduction to Animation.
