Guest artist, curator, and scholar Elaine Heumann Gurian taught a week-long workshop from her experience as a senior museum consultant for national museums worldwide. The workshop resulted in an exhibition of Visual Arts Thesis I that focused on the responsive relationship between the artist and the audience in the context of civic responsibility.
MUSIC Retiring piano faculty member Dr. Michael Coonrod performed his final faculty recital with colleagues Laura Osgood Brown, Keith Brown, Tina Chang Qu, David Holland, and Patrick Owen. Interlochen wishes Dr. Coonrod a happy and fulfilling retirement, and thanks him for his decades of dedicated, inspired service to Interlochen’s young musicians. VISUAL ARTS Visual Arts students presented their Latibule exhibition, with on-location installations in Dow Visual Arts Gallery, Red Schoolhouse Gallery, Cabin C-20, Liberal Arts Rotunda, Bonisteel Library, and Stone Hotel.
ACADEMICS History and political science students Tendekai Mawokomatnda, Ella Wahby, and Max Young working with instructor Brian McCall, traveled to Lansing, Michigan to meet with the 2022 YMCA Youth In Government, a student-led, student-run model government for teens across the state. The program motto is “Democracy must be learned by each generation.”
